where are you now?

in taiwan, the steamer full of dumplings cost about 2.40... i'm so hungry right now... and i crave waffle house.

it looks like taiwanese style porkchop. porkchop is first marinated and then coated with tapioca or corn starch and then deep fried.

similar to japanese style, which is not marinated and is coated with flour first, then egg and then bread crumbs.

Translation:
pork chop 5 kg
soy souce 4 tbsp
sugar 2 tbsp
rice wine 150cc
starch 1 cup
egg 3

1) mix everything
2) leave in fridge for 1 day 1 night, drain, deep fry until done.
 
Sorry, don't have the recipe. The dumplings and pork chop are from Din Tai Fung in Arcadia (google it or look at the Zagat review if you subscribe). Fried pork chop is relatively easy to make, though.

since japanese style porkchop is not marinated, the most important part of the meal in my opinion is the tonkatsu sauce (every store have their own secret recipe). or make it a katsudon. hmm delicious.
