IQ means sh!t. there it's said. It's as important as the crap in a septic tank. hell I have a 156 overall, so nanananapoopooo I have a higher IQ then you! That doesn't mean I know more or am any "smarter" its a number, I scored well on some tests, whooptiefriggindo.

edit bcuse I cn't spll ro use prooper grammmer.

If I was an employer, and saw two applications, one saying he had a high school diploma and the other didnt, both with equal experience, who do you think I would hire? Having a GED is NOT as good as the diploma...I could easily view that as a sign that this person is unwilling to put forth the extra work needed as well as go through the good times and the bad.

I am better than you, I like to brag, I like to make you feel like you are worthless, in effect I am worthless.

Are you drunk? Let's see your knowledge of physics compared to your wife. BTW what good exactly is that high IQ? I ask assuming it is even accurate, which I doubt. As someone has already pointed out IQ tests vary greatly and most online tests are BS provided only so you can pay them for an official looking certificate. I think if you actually buy that certificate that should automatically classify you as a moron.

But anyway, this late in the thread I will only end up saying the same others have said. I agree that all the intelligence in the world is meaningless unless applied to something. On the other hand everyone on earth serves a purpose of somekind. So even one with a low IQ can be a useful person. Even if it is only a warning/lesson to others on the dangers of stupidity (Darwin Awards hehe).

You might argue why I doubt the IQ test is accurate having not even known you. But then I would argue that the obvious posts in this thread should have been forseen by you had you really had such a high IQ. It's only common sense so far, after all.

My point is that there is no *accepted* online test of IQ. They are not statistically valid psychometric measures. Almost all of the online "IQ tests" give an average score of 130-150 (with an assumed mean of 100), so if you are basing your IQ on that, sorry. Even the "real" IQ tests, the most accepted of which have a standard deviation of 15 or 16 points, are widely criticized. For examplel, if you took one in school, it does not correlate well with adult scores. So all of the "I took it in school and got a 180" people need to realize that. Even Mensa now takes (quite low) SAT scores, and we all know you can pay to increase your score there. Because Mensa is so easy to enter there are a variety of orgs like 999 that try to be even more "exclusive".

I have yet to see anyone at AT claim a score below 120-130. Since a score of 140 in the random population is supposed to be ~ 1 in 161 and a score of 150 is ~ 1 in 1,140 and a score of 180 is ~ 1 in 3.5 million, we have either:

1) an *unbelievable* clustering of geniuses,
2) a bunch of people reporting unreliable scores (i.e., from online tests or from when they were 10 years old), or
3) the same phenomenon (beginning with an L) that leads people to all claim to be 6'4" and 3% body fat.

I think #2 is the most likely, with sprinklings of 3 and a slight trend towards 1.

Heh, I feel the same way most of the time. I was very intelligent as a kid, now I just feel mentally dull. Damned laziness. If I took an IQ test now, I'd probably drop down 30 points or more.

>>Your logic is severly flawed.<<

-good argument! ;)

>>I go looking for a job,I and another person who does not have a high school diploma applies at the same time, who do you think they are going to hire ?<<

-Believe it or not, many will hire the one without a diploma for several reasons. The person without a diploma is gonna feel more dependant on the job so they will be more loyal. They're going to be more appreciative. They probably had a rough life and will likely do what the employer tells them to without whining.

>>Tell me exactly how every non grad is going to become a millionare again ?<<

-Almost anyone with the ambition could be except maybe people like you that actually *need* school. Of course people have spending problems, drug addictions, gambling problems and other vices. Most people just aren't capable or don't care to be millionaires. I'm one that doesn't care.

>>It is very obvious that you have no understanding what so ever of how the job market works.<<

-I'm 31 years old, I've had more jobs than most people will have in their entire lives. I've never had a problem finding a job. I get hired at more than half the jobs I've seriously applied to. I have a ton of experience and don't need to worry about what I'm gonna do for a living. I'm much more valuable than someone who has specialized in an area. I can make good money at several different things and not have to be stuck in one profession.

>>Having a GED is NOT as good as the diploma...I could easily view that as a sign that this person is unwilling to put forth the extra work needed as well as go through the good times and the bad.<<

-You "could" also see it as a sign that maybe the person got a tough break in life, they'd be more appreciative, and they know how the real world works. Is putting forth the extra work needed when it really gains you nothing? Sorry, but this kind of logic is taught in schools by teachers who really don't make a lot of money.

NO, Mensa does not accept ANY SAT scores from after 1993. The easiest way to get into Mensa is the GRE exam. Lots of students I went to graduate school with joined Mensa simply because their GRE scores allowed them to. Mensa is not "easy to enter" but they are not attempting to be ultra-exclusive either. They put a figure out every year on how many people are eligible to join. The last figure I saw was over 100million.

Edit: Just to let you know, the population average on that iq test is 100. Prepare to be demoralized to the max! Barely anyone can even reach 130. If you can get 140+ you are my GOD!!

Don't feel bad! I read the first question, was dumbfounded, and started inputting random answers in like a retard. Answers that made no sense! and I got a 100 too! :) 0% effort = population average. "You just go in every day and do it half-assed. That's the American way." - Homer :D

Mathematics?... I've taken some of the harder courses in highschool and college. Math is one of the most over-taught courses there is. It literally takes less than a minute to learn what they take 45 minutes in class to teach. Furthermore teachers aren't even needed. Home-schooled children turn out smarter in general and often teach themselves from the book. "Read the bold print... done!" Can you imagine how a math teacher felt when he kicked me out of his class for a week, and when I came back for the weekly test I was the only kid out of ~60 kids that got a perfect score on his test? I wasn't taught, and I spent 1/40th of the time in the book that I would have spent in class. I'm not trying to brag here, just pointing out that kids can learn much faster without a teacher. I tutored in college.... this was stupid easy!.... Tell them to show you where they are in the book. Have them show you what they're having problems with. Find the bold faced print in the chapter that pertains to it and point it out to them.... done!

People can learn things on the job. Field experience counts a lot with employers. Furthermore many employers are learning that un-educated people tend to be more productive and try harder. Of course some require a HS diploma or GED, but GED's are stupid easy to get. For ambitious people, it's easy enough to start your own business. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get someone to work for you making money for you.

You know, getting a job where I did, the largest computer company in the world, required a 4-year college degree. I got one in Communication and they could've cared less if it were Physics or Psychology either. They needed to see the degree. It proved I was able to complete something I set out for. Experience is very important, I agree, but without formal schooling, they would've laughed in my face.

Well I took the SAT before 1993 and that's when they were running their ad compaigns in the back of magazines. I would argue that a combined GRE score of 1875 (today's reqquirement) makes MENSA is relatively easy to get into, especially since one can PREPARE for it and improve their score. Is it measuring 'intelligence" or income? :)

First off, 99% of your time spent in school tends to be wasted. It takes ~1 minute to learn what it takes them ~45 minutes to teach. If children were allowed to work instead of go to school, they could earn more than enough money to start a small buisness and be self employed. There are people making a good living off of ebay who need less than a 4th grade education. The hard work and money I've seen some people spend on college could have landed them retirement by the time they would finish college, and finish paying off their debt. I've worked alongside people with 8 yr degrees who couldn't find work in their field. School is for people who need help to succeed, or for people who want to be something particular that needs a degree. 8 years slaving through college + 8 years of slavery to debt = 16 years you could have worked and become a millionaire. >>You can join Mensa now! Be one of intellectual elite who meet for a nice session of stroking their own egos and belittling the common man.<< -Yeah, I've been around some of these "elite". One of them talked a big talk at a family get together until they found out everyone in my family scored higher on the test than he did. He seemed stupid to me, but everyone is smart in thier own ways and character to me is more important than intelligence. You can pick apart people's spelling, grammar, etc... though what does that stuff get you really? Getting into debt for anything other than a house or an investment that will pay off is foolish to me. I mentioned to some co-workers that I had around $1k spending money a month. They were dumbfounded yet they made more than me. The difference was they were in debt. One older lady just didn't realize how much money she was putting away for retirement. Her house and car were payed off so her living expenses were less than mine, and her income was greater, (I won't do debt for a car, but will for a house). There are people working the same job as me without a HS education. I can make much more money elsewhere, but I've gotten lazy and comfortable where I'm at. I think $1k/m after expenses is more than enough to live comfortable on. I'm in a poor part of the US btw.

People talk about school as if it's a ticket for a job. I went to college because I wanted the experience of going to school ... learning for the sake of learning. With my diploma a job is a hard thing to get (fine art) .. I got a okay job for the time being, first year out. Don't know what I'll do in a year though, maybe go back for more school :)
Maybe a MFA .. maybe a motorbike and highway freedom.
