Dr Martens w/ dress pants, shirt and tie?

:Q wow. talk about crazy. I wear the same style of clothes pretty much daily. I personally would say to at least wear pleated slacks, since they appear to be somewhat more dressy. Also, that shirt screams two buttons un-done and no tie. defenitely too flashy

/shrug. I think they look dressier, but the straight cut is leaps and bounds more comfortable. I usually get bitched at for not having pleated slacks at work.
those Docs are terrible. Doc Martens dont go with anything but a machinist's overalls. those pants and the shirt are not "nice dress" style, either... more like colorful relaxed weekend wear. but, again, if youre teaching little kids, nobody there will be the wiser.

They look very nice... 🙂 Even wearing them with suits. (I wear a suit at least 3 to 4 days per week.)
I've had a total of three pairs of these oxford wingtips doc martins and I'll probably wear them for the rest of my life... they are that good... 🙂
Oh, and I order from www.zappos.com all the time too... A great place to buy docs online and for cheap...

if anything, make sure your shirt is of the right size; sleeves are neither too long or too short, and the neck size (if you are goin to wear a tie) is not too big. Try not to buy a "dress" shirt by the sizes of S, M, L....go by neck size and sleeve length. It looks bad, imo, if your pant leg is too long, this can be amplified by wearing the pants not at your waist. The pant leg should 'break' once between your knees and feet, any more and its not hemmed at the right length or your pre-hemmed pants are too long.
of course this is just my opinion.
personally, i think there are much better choices than the shirt, pants, and shoes you picked. The combo you have picked out right now is too casual, imo. A gray to black pant, textured or microfiber/smooth; shouldn't run you more than $100 altered (really just hemmed). A nice dress shirt would be about $60, and a tie, figure anything between $10 and $50. Depending on what kind of shirt you picked, and your neckline, pick the knot you will tie your tie appropiately. http://www.tie-a-tie.net/ I myself prefer a half-windsor; works well with a lot of ties i wear.
Do you have a suit by any chance? If you are up to getting a suit, make your first a blue pin-stripe; always a winner. Get some nice leather soled shoes while your at it. Bostonian still makes some leather soled shoes, rather inexpensive compared to what you could spend on shoes.

Maybe so, but they are by far the best made shoes I have ever owned. I wore my pair for 5 years straight (wearing them daily). They lasted me through hs, 2 jobs (one as a bag boy, the other as a server so I was on my feet moving about getting sh!t on em), and a year of college. After all that with a little polishing they looked good as new. I'd still have them today except for the fact that I lost them. Needless to say I soon purchases another pair which I work in (as a server again 🙁).
