How formal is the occasion? I'd say the outfit you've chosen is smart casual, but the shoes have got to go.
Try Aldo for a cheap pair of black dress shoes. Look for something with a low-profile and a narrow toe. The shirt is fine, but swap the stone chinos for a pair in black. Actually, I'd recommend Banana Republic or Club Monaco. Both are in your price range.

:Q wow. talk about crazy. I wear the same style of clothes pretty much daily. I personally would say to at least wear pleated slacks, since they appear to be somewhat more dressy. Also, that shirt screams two buttons un-done and no tie. defenitely too flashy

Those arent slacks or dress pants, their freakin Chinos. Basically a tad nicer than jeans.
Wear your DOC's all day long with them.
You wearing that oufit will make a great  impression
I know... I know but I'm working with children. I'm not an investment banker! I've been in school settings that are laid back and I've been in a few that have a strict dress code. The male teachers that work in the strict school districts all wear Khakis, casual/dress shirts and a tie.
If I were going in for an actual interview, I would dress much differently. The only thing that I'll be doing on visitation day is I'll talk with the principal of the school and I'll spend the day in my assigned classroom.

I don't see what's wrong with pleats.
Then again, I'm not a male in touch with my feminine fashion sense.

I wear Docs all the time.
I have a black pair and brown pair of these docs here:
Docs
They look very nice...Even wearing them with suits. (I wear a suit at least 3 to 4 days per week.)
I've had a total of three pairs of these oxford wingtips doc martins and I'll probably wear them for the rest of my life... they are that good...
Oh, and I order from www.zappos.com all the time too... A great place to buy docs online and for cheap...
