swarmster, thank you for taking the time to upload and share (and i should thank Financialist at FW for guiding you to YSI).

Kaervak thank you for taking the time to upload and share as well.

mjhvball, thank you for setting up what appears to be your own site for downloading.

Very generous of you all !!

....and also thanks to
swifty for offering to make a server for this,

aktse for heads up on 6,

forkd for the heads up on 7,

artecnical for the heads up on 8.

Thanks to all who pitched in to help or offered to do so. I'm glad this thread kept going because for some reason I am late coming.

I downloaded 3 of them early today and I thoroughly enjoyed them so I had to get the rest. Don't let the 128kb encoding fool you. The quality is good. I'm listening to them through WinAmp 2.91 and a great plugin called Sound Solution 1.31b ( it requires a lot from the CPU, but it has improved my muisc listening immensely )

Great freebie!

Are you not going to thank mzkhadir for the comedy?

NP I am glad to see one of my posts do some good for once and not get craped on, oh wait it did :p and the stuff I linked was free

But anyway I am just thrilled I got the music as well, found the link and was able to give to you all. And I am thrilled and happy that all came together to keep this up for everyone to keep getting when the first part was pulled and then to put it up when the site was slow. This is what anandtech is about and even with all the crap I get around here I am still happy to be part of it :D

Apparently he hasn't read this thread since posting his advice, so I don't know if he was serious or not. If he was serious, somebody should give him a heads up so he won't make the same blunder again. If he was joking, well, the joke is on those who took him seriously.

Is there any information as to the performances. IOW, stuff like what orchestra, what conductor, date and location of performance, the chorus singing the 9th... stuff like that? Thanks.

Edit: I started playing the 1st and am getting an extensive introduction. Seems the answers to the above is basically:

BBC Philharmonic
Gianandrea Noseda, conductor

All performed over a weekend in Manchester, England, made available for download by the BBC.

I'm listening to the 1st right now. Sounds like a decent enough performance.

I figure I'll not want to hear those introductions than once. You can cut off that introduction from the MP3's with a freeware utility called MP3 Trackmaker 1.2, which I've been using for years. You can get it here.

Edit: The utility is very easy to use. I use it with Winamp. Open the utility, choose the MP3 to work on and start playing it in Winamp. Choose a save-to directory for your new MP3's, and choose a name for your new file(s). When you come to a point in the MP3 where you want to create a break, press the button that saves the position. If you don't think you got the place right, remove the saved position and rewind Winamp to just before the position you want and wait for the position to come around again (back arrow is good for that - I have it set to go back 10 seconds in Winamp). When you have the position right (or several - this utility can break your MP3 into several pieces, if you want), press the button to create the tracks and a few seconds later it's done. You can then rename the created files. I just did all 9 symphonies in about 15 minutes, breaking up each file into files like:

Symphony 1 Intro.mp3
Symphony 1.mp3
etc.

This version doesn't support VBR MP3's, though.

All 9 symphonies, including the introductions come to 333 MB.

I just checked the website I set up for people to download the symphonies and found out it has been suspended. I guess Wan Planet didn't like me doing that. I will see if I can get it back up this weekend.

I've searched everywhere for this download but failed miserably :( Can anyone host #1-5 for a few hours if possible just for the few of us who wanted it badly? Thanks
