I play on "hurt me plenty" and I've had to replay some areas several times to get it. Now, try to remember that I am L33T, I am moonbogg. So if I die even once on hurt me plenty, that means the rest of you scrubs should stick to "I'm too young to die" 😀

"hurt me plenty"....pfff, scrub. I call that "pistol only" difficulty. 😱

"hurt me plenty" is where my comfort level is. It started off a bit on the easy side, but in the later levels it's challenging for me.

another screenie with nice colors.

Thanks for posting those screens, Moonbogg. They look sweet! I might have to try it out - I need a change of pace from Diablo and WoW.

I think it's been mentioned, but as cool as some of the shots look, they don't really do the game justice. There is just so much going on in the game in motion, lots of rolling smoke, particle effects, lighting, etc. Most of the environments feel very much alive. The feeling you get is not unlike a 2016 version of when you first played Unreal (for the old timers).

I beat Quake 3 Arena on nightmare back in the day, I wonder if I could handle this on nightmare now that I'm 16 years older. Ugh f aging

Do you feel like you wasting your time yet? See, the way I see it, the reason I am so good at computer applications is through playing games like these my whole life. Win- Win.

Yes, exactly. Everything seems more organic. The engine likes to paint the environment with diffused light more than colored textures. So having lights that change or move really makes this game much more appetizing on the eye and does not show its full glory in still images. It defiantly seems like openGL has the upper hand on blending soft lights, shaders, and colored particles, but compression of high-res textures maybe more so with Direct X. Even the characters seem more occlusion shader dependent than geometry and textures.

Watching sparks fly off broken electrical lines literally had my character standing still in awe like a puppy in the living room window watching cars drive by.

I freaking SUCK at finding the secrets. I have only found 3 of the Little Dudes so far. Do you guys look as you go or go back and look after you have cleared the level?

I look as I go, not to say I find everything the first time, but I generally explore all the offshoots before moving on. Finding the secret classic Doom levers seem to be the hardest for me as they don't stand out at all, I pretty much only notice them when I by chance see "press e" momentarily flash on the screen.

Don't make the same mistake I've made. I kept on choosing health and armor upgrades over ammo capacity upgrades and now I find myself going through my entire arsenal during the larger battle sequences. One time I was relegated to using the pistol until I found a box of rockets.

I did the exact opposite and was worried I'd eventually regret it, thinking in the latter levels I'm might be killed by the tougher hordes too easily. The decision turned out ok though, I'm nearly maxed on health and armor anyway, and really only find myself getting killed by those floating fat blob things, I don't tend to notice them for some reason until they are chomping on my head.

Seeing my processor and video card and monitor in my signature, what are the OPTIMAL settings for my rig for best performance and graphics without getting lag?

You 8GB of ram is probably your main bottleneck there. Your hardware is capable of Ultra but I don't know that you'd be able to avoid random hitching as data gets paged in and out of memory with 8GB.

That's assuming 1080p btw.

Yep, 1080P. So how much more RAM would you suggest?

I haven't found any of the original doom map secrets. I will finish the game and then go back and look for the secrets. OG doom maps should be fun.
