Just got to Kadingir Sanctum in Hell, and man it looks sick! 😱

These screenshots show how awesome virtual textures can be, as ID's artist went to town on this one and did not hold back their creative fervor one bit..

It looks a lot better in game though, as the entire scene is very dynamic with lots of particle effects, and the skybox looks fucking amazing!

I got to a certain checkpoint in hell and I couldn't believe how amazing it looked. I just sat there and stared. Amazing art work, highly detailed (especially with sharpness at 4) and the color palette was brilliant. Game is a 10/10 in my book.

That sure looks nice. Does the game also have a storyline ?

There's enough story to get the job done. The majority of it is told through pickups and codecs you find throughout the levels.

I haven't bothered to read those. They are there for people who want to read them, which is nice.

Also, for what its worth, I haven't had a crash since disabling SLI. I had it on and figured the game was just using one card, but maybe it was causing instability.

I have to agree. In Doom 3 I really liked the story and the gameplay was OK. Now it's completely the opposite. It's been a long time that I've been drawn to a game for graphics, but this also has that for sure.

Just unboxed my CE. Love the statue! The foil cards are OK, but could've been made better - they're just thick paper. Installing the game now, but I can't play till tomorrow, as I have to work tonight.

This is the only place my 780gtx took a dive .. noticeable input lag in a few scenes.. well worth it.
Can we call this a console port done right? It feels right!

Are we sure it was actually a port? I'd be more inclined to guess that they ported it from PC to XB1 and not the other way around.

It was one of the rare times my FPS dropped below 70. It never felt crappy though which is great. I don't know if its a port or not but it feels like an authentic, fully legit, highly impassioned masterpiece of a PC game. We don't get games like this often, especially shooters. This one is a rare treat. I will be buying all DLC and supporting the developers to the full extent. My only regret is not having a revenant figurine next to my monitor as I stomp through hell. Its their fault I don't have one. They should have told me the game was going to be awesome as hell and I would have bought the super deluxe figurine version of the game.

I can't get over how amazing the lighting is in this game. It really needs to be seen in real-time to be truly appreciated.

Well, they tried to hype the game but everyone rushed to the forums talking about how the MP sucked in beta and they weren't going to buy it. So I don't really blame people for not purchasing the CE if they decided to take the chance.

You know you've been playing too long when you close your eyes and see orange/blue glowing demons.

I don't understand it either. The multiplayer is fantastic. I suppose if all someone has ever known was COD/Halo and only wanted COD/Halo...

I forgot to mention that many people called the game slow and said it "wasn't doom because it was slow". There was a lot of negative feedback floating around the internet so I imagine some people cancelled pre-orders and decided to wait.

I'll be purchasing it for PC when I finish Uncharted 4 on PS4.

I'm tempted to pick this up but I feel like I should upgrade first. I saw a review earlier that said my card could run it at the ultra quality setting on 1080p without too much issue. I'm not looking for 60fps either. I did play doom 3 and it was alright but it seems like it would benefit to have everything maxed out since that's what I hear the enjoyment is about so far.

I didn't notice a huge IQ difference between Ultra and Nightmare. There are only a handful of settings that can be set to nightmare anyway. I wouldn't upgrade for a single game, especially when the difference is Ultra vs Nightmare. If your intention was to upgrade your video card to Pascal/Polaris regardless of this game, then yeah might as well wait to buy it but I wouldn't let a few settings in a single game dictate a $3-600 upgrade.

Oh I totally understand you but it's been 5-6 years since I built my PC. Every time I go to think about upgrading or make a thread on it lol, I end up saying OK I'll wait until so and so is out as it will be better. But then life happens and I forget and don't upgrade anything.

A video card upgrade might be nice especially if I plan on playing other games in the future and then the rest of the components can be switched out on an as needed basis.
