Tldr: Pfizer manufactured vials of vaccine with 5 doses. They overfill the vials to account for wastage. The overfill was enough in many cases to generate extra doses. Trump admin allowed Pfizer to relabel vials as six doses. Pfizer then claims they won't ship as many vials because the agreement was to ship doses, not vials. Then Trump admin supplies syringes that are incapable of getting six doses of of Pfizer vials. So now we're paying for 300 million doses or thereabouts and only getting 250 million usable doses.

Oh Lord, those poor restaurant owners and staff. I heard an interview with the owner of that place. It's one thing if you are an ambitious national-level politician who's chosen to put themselves out there, but no ordinary person just trying to make a living should have to deal with this level of mass lunacy.
