Get over it, the corporate sponsors pulled the plug on his show, the market has spoken.

Interesting - The Soros-funded, ultra-liberal media watchdog website, Media Matters is the one that started this whole shindig.

The irony in this is that Imus leans liberal himself and has liberal guests on his program frequently.

I'm still amazed that this is what brought him down after all the genuinely nasty things he's said on the air over the years.

And why is that Sharpton wants to "work with the black rappers and artists" to clean up the language, yet won't rest until Imus is has lost his livelihood? Why doesn't Sharpton "work with" him as well? Doesn't that seem a little, I don't know.. racist?

uh, what? A) the comment was not that big of a deal. sure it was stupid to say, but there was noting racist about it. B) couldn't they have just ignored it and gone on with their lives? its not like he kidnapped them...

all of these people just need to stfu and get on with their lives. if i had all this ****** going on every time someone insulted me, i wouldn't have time for anything else.

No, actualy Imus is the one who's going to stfu.

If you look at the MSNBC pollpoll, the overwelming majority of people think Imus DID something offensive (78% of 217334 people as of this morning) and deserved to be punished. So yes it was a big deal.

Get with the program.
Imus is a rich guy,I think he will be OK

you're such an idiot. that is not what the poll says.
25% says he went too far and for no reason
22% says no, it wasn't a big deal.
54% says suspension was deserved, but firing him is an overreaction.
i think you tried to add up 25% and 54%, but they actually don't say he deserves to be punished.plus, this poll doesn't even try to be accurate. i bet i could punch in a bunch of votes. so could others on AT.

You where in such a hurry to call me an idiot that you did not even bother to read the question the poll was aking.

Let me write it for you:

Did Don Imus deserve to be fired by CBS?

If 25% say yes and 54% say he deserve a suspension, that means 75 % think he deserve a punishment.

Any question you IDIOT!

yes, i have a question number1.
so, you pointed out the title is, did don imus deserve to be fired by cbs. and i assumed when you wrote "punished" you implied being fired, because that is what he got, and what we were discussing yesterday.
being suspended is different from being fired.

i'm curious tho, how many of you posting here have actually listened to Imus's show?

i've listened to his show 45 minutes to an hour 2 or 3 days a week for about 4 yrs now. anyone that thinks the one statement of Imus defines who he is and what he thinks doesn't have a clue to what imus is.

how about the last 2 yrs, imus has RAVED about Harold Ford Jr and Barak Obama, so is he racist? if so, why does he like these to obviously black politicians so much?

just a few thoughts that immediately came to mind.

Exactly. I used to watch on MSNBC before comcrap moved it off my package. I would have listened on the local AM station but only dogs could hear it's crap signal. Apparently WFAN just recently (last time I check was last summer before this) started streaming it. Unfortunate I only got to listen to a few more shows.
KCAA Radio is going to replay the original show from April 4th and replay other shows through next week.
Search kcaa at SHOUTcast and you can hear their stream.

Livelyhood? He's got plenty of money, and likely will get picked up on satellite radio before the year is out.

We talk about the double standards between whites & blacks, what about the double standards between them and us? If while at a tradeshows representing the company I work for, I call a group of people nappy-headed hos, I'd be immediately fired.

Individual freedoms is not the issue here. Nowhere is it guaranteed that everyone must have the job of their choice at all times. Neither Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, nor the NAACP fired Imus. CBS did. If CBS does not want to keep him employed, it is their right and freedom to do so.

Imus was free to say what he said!

His boss was also free to fire him for what he said!

Sounds like freedom to me and I support it.

At the risk of repeating myself, the overwelming majority of people who responded to the poll agreed that he should be punished. That is also my position.

Poor Imus lost his livelyhood. Now you are going to tell me that next week he is going to be at the food bank.

Imus is a rich man. He will be back if he want's to.

So what if we could say "poor snoop dog' lost his livelihood?

But you know it won't happen right ... and he'll be able to say whatever he wants -- WHENEVER he wants, along with 2025 other raps 'artists'

Watch any BET lately?

Blame the media and the white people behind this for not standing their ground with this whole racist play card...

Every TV and Radio show is condemning IMUS for what he said. Some people thought it was funny, but no one will admit that. Some people thought firing him was too much, but they are also afraid to say something about it. Every damn body is afraid to say anything black related.

Where is Sharpton's apology to the 3 duke students?

Those 3 students really suffered in comparison to those few nappy headed .....

You mean Black Entertainment Television...? They didn't invite me - I'm white.

I'd like to see what would happen if WET was created.

Imus got the axe because his sponsers dropped him.

I am not sure I understand the people here who support Imus in this on the basis of "freedom of speech". Imus can put out a CD that records anything he wants.

But if I owned and or ran a company, I would not want my company associated with someone who called anyone a "nappy headed ho". I definitely would not pay someone who says crap like that.

.

What is up with the people who are sending the Rutger's team hate mail?

Nowhere is it guaranteed that everyone should never feel offended. Sharpton and Jackson decided to whore themselves out to the media a bit more and pursue something that, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't matter at all.

It's called CMT

With substantial differences. They don't disrespect women, police officers and the general public to no end, and if you do happen to be black and have country talent they'll play you and your videos. There are many more black people that like country music than you can possibly imagine some of it crossing over to blues or rhythm and blues --- being in Ft. Worth TX you see them and learn that black cowboys have a long history in America, but they DO NOT disrespect women the way rap artists do and literally promote crime on the streets.

I would surmise that there are more than a few on CMT that might be a tad prejudiced, but not NEARLY to the extent that your typical top of the chart hardcore rap artist is, and it's not blatantly named WET or WPCM ('white peoples' country music).

And?

I was just saying Imus being fired is not destroying his livelihood, and is not a violation of his personal freedoms.

I still haven't quite figured out what you're saying, with the double-negatives - but irregardless, what I think you said, I don't quite follow how it counters my argument, or adds to it. Or for that matter, relates in any way other than the sentences both start with "Nowhere is it guaranteed that everyone".

Yeah true, very seldom have I seen it though when flipping through channels, but you still can't have a TV show called WET now can you? or 'white' anything associated with any company or media program. Don't you really think if they can have a show called BET then there should be a show called WET allowed with zero backlash? (even though I wouldn't care to see it).

The double standard needs to go, or if it's not going to apply at all, then the same things that are allowed for one group of people should be allowed for the other.

They used to have Black appreciation week at our local fair...until some Blacks went on a rampage, and someone got shot. It got cancelled after that.

Can you imagine the outrage that would happen, if we had White appreciation week, at same fair?

It happened in Sacramento, 2-3 years ago.

Well, once appreciation is self ingrained, and it's a part of your normal healthy persona I would surmise that those people would no longer need to attend that type of function named as such.

Ergo, if the Rutgers basketball players had any real deeply known understanding of themselves and the obvious success stories that they really were and are and will likely be in the future, than they don't need to play the victim to this degree, and I don't think they really want to either and I think they're as swept up in this thing as Imus was (him by his own stupidity though).
