Here are my thoughts:
Since when did "nappy ho" become a racist remark? It's not tactful, but it's definitely not racist. There are absolutely white girls that I would classify as "nappy ho". Just because the remarks were directed towards girls who are black doesn't make it racist. Blacks are only hurting themselves by being so hypersensitive.

today i heard about how Imus' comments ruined the team's celebration because now they have to do all these interviews and such.
uh, what? A) the comment was not that big of a deal. sure it was stupid to say, but there was noting racist about it. B) couldn't they have just ignored it and gone on with their lives? its not like he kidnapped them...
all of these people just need to stfu and get on with their lives. if i had all this ****** going on every time someone insulted me, i wouldn't have time for anything else.
No, actualy Imus is the one who's going to stfu.
If you look at the MSNBC pollpoll, the overwelming majority of people think Imus DID something offensive (78% of 217334 people as of this morning) and deserved to be punished. So yes it was a big deal.
Get with the program.
Imus is a rich guy,I think he will be OK

if everytime the rap station in NY said something semi-bad about white people.....they'd have new DJs every week.
this is the kind of crap that numbs my emotions to feel bad for anyone for anything.
listen to the opie and anthony's thing with the top 10 rap song lyrics........they need to check themselves.......and sharpton and james seriously need to be ignored, period.
and yes imus will go on XM/Sirius and all will be well

So, how come there is no big fuss over how Oprah said white guys can't dance yesterday on her show?
Hypocritical, Double Standard, Two-Faced Ho FTL
how about Classy above referring to ATOT posters as "sheet boys".
and don't you love how he complains i took it out of context? why is context only important if a black person says something?
To be fair though the comment he was responding to certainly sounded like it came right out of the KKK manual with the reference to lynching.
And my point when i pointed out his words to him was, guess what context makes a difference for anyone.
and my point is, when black people use certain words, they always claim context, when non black people say them, that person is automatically a racist despite context.

Rutgers team: We accept Don Imus apology
You aren't a shock jock on the radio. This isn't the first "off-color" (pardon the pun) comment that Imus has spewed over the years. This is the first one that the likes of Albert Sharpton decided to take issue with. If Sharpton hadn't piped in it's likely the Rutger's team would have ignored the whole thing. Anyone with me on that?Originally posted by: mercanucaribe

You must be some kind of communist if you think that firing someone whose work is unsatisfactory is "over the top". If I said what that guy says while at work, I'd lose my job.

you're such an idiot. that is not what the poll says.
25% says he went too far and for no reason
22% says no, it wasn't a big deal.
54% says suspension was deserved, but firing him is an overreaction.
i think you tried to add up 25% and 54%, but they actually don't say he deserves to be punished.plus, this poll doesn't even try to be accurate. i bet i could punch in a bunch of votes. so could others on AT.

You where in such a hurry to call me an idiot that you did not even bother to read the question the poll was aking.
Let me write it for you:
Did Don Imus deserve to be fired by CBS?
If 25% say yes and 54% say he deserve a suspension, that means 75 % think he deserve a punishment.
Any question you IDIOT!

Good, time to move on. Now Sharpton/Jackson can apologize to the Duke Lacrosse players, and also they can start waging war on the racist, sexist rap lyrics that pollute our airwaves and ears daily.

HOW WAS THAT A RACIAL SLUR!?!?!?!Originally posted by: mercanucaribe

Ok.. as many know the Rutgers womens basketball team was invited to the Oprah show yesterday afternoon. Nothing more than publicity over all the racial BS and the Don Imus fiasco.
Well, this morning, someone I work with mentioned that the Rutgers girls were teaching Oprah some dance on the show. Oprah went on to say that every time this happens, a white guy comes along and always messes it up.
:Q
Pure BS
Yes, because joking about how white guys can't dance is the same as using derogatory racial slurs.
Nappy = tight curly hair. This is not a derogatory word. It describes hair texture. HELLLOOOO!?!
Ho = Whore.
Nappy Ho. Why is this racial? It is sexist, but not racial.
How can you not see that Imus used it as a racial slur??? It refers specifically to black people's hair. You think it wouldn't be racist if he called them "big lipped fat nosed hos"? After all, black people do have wider noses and bigger lips than white people.
Every chance I get, believe me!Originally posted by: mercanucaribe
