Dog ate entire bag of andes mints...wrapper and all today

Might tell you to give him that stuff. Something-pectate or something. Take him outside, and let him vomit for a while. Sux, but you gotta do it before the dog starts digesting it.

Ugh! I'm guessing you already know that chocolate is toxic to dogs. Why wait? Google a safe canine way to induce vomiting RIGHT NOW, I say.

Usually if you want them to vomit, you can give them a bit of hydrogen peroxide. There are sites that give the guidelines for it, it doesn't take much.
 
You should probably tie him out tonight. Explosive diarrhea is likely to be next. I'd make sure he gets plenty of good food and fresh water. It'll help make sure the chocolate gets out of his system.
The wrappers shouldn't phase him (her) a bit.
I sure hope everything works out okay!!!
 
Problem is that she did it while we were gone today. More than likely longer than 4 hours ago and inducing vomiting won't due much at this point.

how's your dog right now? they're right in saying its poison for dogs. my dog loves chocolate so we have to hide it. he's only had a tiny amount though.
 
I'm pretty sure it's a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide that will make the dog hurl.

I wouldn't worry about it TOO much, try to wait and see what the vet says, although if he doesn't get back to you quickly, you may want to go ahead and get the dog to yack. I don't think there's any reason *not* to. (Some poisons, you don't want coming back up, but reading a few sites online it doesn't look like this is an issue with chocolate and dogs, the general concensus is "induce vomiting."


AFAIK, the deal with chocolate and dogs is that there is some compound similar to caffiene in it that dogs just can't deal with. HOWEVER the "good" news is that your average sweet candy chocolate doesn't have NEARLY as much as a dark unsweetened chocolate.

its true that it is poison, but that does not mean its going to die. It may just have massive diarrahea. My dog ate a full bag of hershey kisses and had the hershey squirts all day the next day. Not fun, but he lived.
