Wesley Clark's Tax Plan

Let me summarize it for those of you with the attention span of a child:

?My tax-reform plan is simple,? Clark said. ?Those who make the most should pay more. Those who make the least should pay less.?

Calling his plan ?the most sweeping tax reform this nation has seen in years,? the retired general said families of four that make less than $50,000 a year will not pay any income tax. All taxpaying families with children and making under $100,000 will get a tax cut.

...

To pay for changes in the tax code, Clark would repeal President Bush?s tax cuts for those making more than $200,000 a year. He would raise the tax rates another 5 percent for those who make $1 million or more each year.

it sucks for those wealthy people who have worked hard for their money, but it helps redistribute wealth and will aid in recreating the middle income class. As it is, we are spiraling towards a lower income class and an upper income class, with middle income generally dropping to lower income.

tax breaks for those who are having a hard time making ends meet seems to make sense to me.

Tell me this. Why is unemployment taxed? Obviously you need all the money you can get since you are unemployed so why can the govt tax this money? Hey, you are out of a job, lets tax you!!!

I think its complete B.S. that this always comes up as a proposed plan, why should the people that make more be almost "punished" for doing so, it takes away all incentive to succeed.

Great... so those who generally place the least burden on the system (those without children) will pay the most in taxes while those who put the largest burden on the system (those with children) will pay the least? :disgust:

This is why socialism does not work, people. It is inherently unfair.

Anyway, Clark just took himself out of the race. Would have been better for him if he just dropped out. After this, I doubt even Dean would take him as his running mate.

Yep, that's exactly what our economy is about and what our government was set up to do - redistributing wealth

Although I thought the state handled his situation poorly, he was wrong the ENTIRE time. He was an arrogant PITA then, & is even worse now.

Does this scare the hell out of anyone else?
No because Clark isn't even going to win the Democratic nomination. Of course just like it was in 2000 we'll have to pick the lessor of two weasals

It's not as far fetched as you think. It's not impossible for a college grad with 5 years experience (or less) to make $50K. Then you get married, and your wife makes $50K, there you have it.

as somebody else said, why should somebody who has worked hard to make a lot of money and have the government come and take a nasty chunk of it away. THis is one reason i hate the Dems, if they had it their way we would the the USSA (United Socialist States of America)

The only fair tax system is a flat tax.

I am married and, unless something happens in the medical world, my wife won't be making $50k anytime soon. She could, easily, if she weren't ill.

I can't trust myself with my own money, so I welcome the government to manage it for me. I am just too wealthy, and my wealth makes me feel guilty.

Such is the thinking of 99.9% of the people living in MA.
