This is the most active forum on AT and we only have about 500-600 members that log in frequently (As in 4-5 days a week). I'm pulling that number from a roll call thread HotChic made last year.

Well all the new-comers we scare off by swarming them with "WHERE'S MY NEW IPOD?!!?!?"

AT is being beat out by such classy forums as China Pet (Pets discussion forum (in chinese) and Literotica (Adult stories and erotic literature message boards).

FuseTalk is expensive. Most of the other forum software, well, isn't. Lots of big companies use FuseTalk for intranet forums inside their businesses. Not so many on the Internet though as most can't afford it.

I know we all like to bitch about the falling standards of parody threads but seriously, check out the dumb parody threads on IMDb. The OP even throws in a little disclaimer at the bottom: P.S. Hey guys, don't take this seriously. This is just a parody.

Amateurs.

FWIW, Anandtech does command a lot of respect in the world of Computer Hardware Reviews.

Do we really need to explain this one? Anand Shimpi is simply one of the smartest, most observant, and most painstaking hardware gurus in the industry. To apply an appropriate cliché, he's forgotten more about technology than most of us will ever know. His entire staff presents some of the most accurate tech reviews on the Internet.

Even the Ziff Davis Network agrees (Not that this means much but Anand did get the nicest write-up of all)

Well, the only computer hardware forum that tops AT is Hardware.fr which is a "Computer hardware forums (in French)." I'll have to say that is surprising. I would have thought that anything in English would top anything in French simply because English seems to have become the default language of the internet.

Used to be the largest English speaking computer forum. Don't know if it still is.

I think you're right.

I think this place has slowed down a lot ever since they made a bunch of break out forums for every little topic rather than it just all falling under Off-Topic.

Someone tell me about the 'Culture Change' thread. I have asked before but never got an answer. I must have been inactive during that time (or maybe it was before I joined).
