I deleted my facebook profile a year ago in anticipation of jobs asking for you to give them access. I don't miss it.

I have a twitter account I use for talking to people in my industry, but that is it. I even recently deleted my g+ account.

I've never had one, might set one up someday but I never really saw the point. I have a twitter account that I set up when I first heard of it before it got big but I haven't used it very much.

I don't understand people who are proud of not having facebook or whatever.

it's just a tool... use it or don't, who cares?

personally, I find it helpful for keeping in touch with people whom I care enough about that I'm still interested in how their life is going but don't get to see on a regular basis (distant family, friends from college who live out of state/country, etc)

It's a dangerous tool. It's like a chainsaw that cuts off body parts when used properly. The pride is from not being a sheep and bandwagoning on the facebook train, and by not throwing away every ounce of common sense to "fit in".

Nope...no facebook page...no myspace page, I don't tweet on twitter, none of that.

In fact, the only time I've ever been to facebook or myspace, it was following a link from here.

It's also for companies and the government to spy on the population. If you don't control the data, it isn't yours. It's like running your computer with a root kit installed. While you may be pushing the buttons, the computer belongs to someone else.

Because there's no other way to do that.

I remember a member got his girlfriend to post here.
Within a few minutes I had posted a cropped pic from her facebook page and freaked her out. :whiste:

yea i don't get it either.

the ironic part is that most of those people are the ones who say how they are so secure about their self images and don't need everyone to approve of what they do, etc, etc ... but then they go and create threads such as this just to get attention from those who approve of them not having a page and don't have one as well.

No way, those "Social Networking" sites are garbage.

Btw, did anyone notice lately, that if you have an AIM account, it recently asked you for your *real name*, and wouldn't let you sign in anymore unless you gave it to them?

What kind of gov't-sponsored BS is that?

A sheep who purposefully faces in the opposite direction is still a sheep.
