Based on his unreasonable whining regarding the DirectX download, I hereby grant permission for continued "ignorant fool" and "idiot" bashing for the rest of the day. :p

That verification thing really isn't that bad. It just checks the installation key and verifies that it's not flagged on MS's list of grossly pirated installation keys.

Yeah. I was pissed at first, but then I saw the 'not at this time'.

Main reason I don't want to deal w/ it:

I'm sure it's an activex control and I don't want to switch over to IE. Besides, I already fvckin' verified it with their probe your ass activation scheme.

And people are going to buy computers without Windows. Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.

And the only reason I'm still sitting here arguing is that Microsoft's servers are stupid slow tonight or something, 2k3 SP1 has been downloading for a solid hour and a half.

Well, you've got two major competitors to Microsoft. Apple and *nix. They have a choice, so I'd say yes. :)

I sell computers. Therefore, I have to buy their products. You can't demo a machine with an OS other than the one you're going to sell on it.

Apple - I can't sell that.

*nix - I could sell that, but I wouldn't exactly make money doing it because of the <even lower> volume.

That argument has nothing to do with the scenario. If it's too much of a problem to bypass the verification with one click you have some problems.

I did that just fine, it's just that MS didn't make it clear that you COULD do that which was the problem. Now if the damn download speed would just pick up a little, I could stop arguing with you.

I did that just fine

Then this thread was not required.

Validate Windows and obtain the download:

Yes, please validate Windows and take me to the download. (If an ActiveX dialog box appears, please click Yes.)

No, do not validate Windows at this time, but take me to the download. <-- click on this option

Uh, would you except a car dealership to perform warrantee work without verifying that you actually had a warrantee?

Why don't you want to use it?

Because I don't believe they have any right to verify that I legally own something I legally bought.

You legally bought a 180 day eval copy of Windows 2003 Server?

Yeah we TOTALLY believe you.

I bought it; I paid the cost that Microsoft was asking for it. In this case, it was express shipping. I obtained it through legitimate channels; that is, directly from Microsoft. Thereby, I legally bought it.

AHAHAHHAHAH...we can't make this stuff up people:p

LOL

You purchased media and that fancy CD holder. The software is licensed, not sold.
