So, does anyone want to help, or are you all just going to scream "OMGPIRATE" and try to convince me to do something that I'm not going to do because I'm opposed to it as a businessperson?
Read my post. Christ.

Attempting this now...
And you'd think they'd actually mention that instead of saying "This download is available to customers running genuine Microsoft Windows. Please click Continue to begin Windows validation." the link actually asks you if you want to validate or not. Piss-poor design. Period. End of story. Someone should be fired.

The first validation link is probably there to scare off scammers/pirates. They probably wouldn't bother to click the first "Validate my copy" link for fear of "setting of alarms" so they wouldn't pursue the download.
Sounds pretty simple and effective to me.

Completely different scenario. Does nVidia check to make sure you own a GeForce video card before you download drivers? ATI? VIA? Do game developers check before you download a FREAKIGN ENORMOUS patch? With VERY few exceptions, they don't. Also, consider that most people who pirate an OS also pirate their games. What comes with games? Oh, DirectX. A whole fvcking lot of good that's gonna do.

Umm, I don't think the driver or patch would work unless you have the video card or original game

And on the eight day, God created the Volume Licensing program. Pricey cost of entry (5 copies), but it's worth every damn penny in not having to deal with that bull.
Oh, and Bite me. It's legit.

Why don't you want to use it?
Because I don't believe they have any right to verify that I legally own something I legally bought.

Yeah, my XP shiz is VLK, but I've long since lost my original CD over all my slipstream iterations. Taking a picture of a CDR and license sheet wouldn't convince half the morons here. I'm actually evaluating 2k3 to consider buying it. Again. It failed to impress me last time.

You legally bought a 180 day eval copy of Windows 2003 Server?

I bought it; I paid the cost that Microsoft was asking for it. In this case, it was express shipping. I obtained it through legitimate channels; that is, directly from Microsoft. Thereby, I legally bought it.

No moron. You did not legally PURCHASE the software. You paid shipping on a free item like an idiot. It's an evaluation piece of software. You own NOTHING. You choose to pay for express SHIPPING. Not for anything about the software.
Dude...just shut up. You're making yourself look like an complete idiot.
Because I DIDN'T. I damn well could've and probably should've, but I didn't. Isn't that enough?Originally posted by: BullyCanadian
