No. Which is why Black and White should still be the terms.

That brings up another question. What do Asian prefer? Yellow? Asian? Asian-American ;)?

if you were born in the USA your an American. you don?t need or deserve a prefix in front of it.

now if you were born in Africa or Asia and immigrated to the US and now are a resident here,,,,, then you can have your prefix

im Italian 2nd gen i cont call myself an Italian?American. im just an americium

anyways, what are people with black skin called in other countries? I think calling someone an "african-american in Europe would be pretty dumb.

BTW my step-mother is black. I am not racist in any way.....except for hating the damn filthy irish ;)

I remember seeing a concert with DC Talk making a statement that, "black, white, red, yellow, brown, we are all colored people"

I agree. Last time I checked, white was still a color in the 64 color crayon box.

You could just use that persons name. If you don't know it then simply ask him/her.

Enough with this stupid labeling!

But would you asian kids mind if you were called "yellow" instead of "asian american" or "chinese" or, etc. etc. etc..... I'd be pissed if someone called me brown... Sure, I'd prefer people just calling me "Sam" but "indian" is definately better than "brown"...

What's funny is that some newspaper did a nationwide poll and found that the vast majority of black people preferred being called "black" over "African-American."

I love how liberals try to determine what's offensive to everybody else without seeing if anyone actually cares.

I wish I had a link, but this makes me think of a story I saw exemplifying how ridiculous, yet deeply-ingrained this PC term has become. It mentioned an anecdote about how Nelson Mandella was once introduced by a speaker here in the US as a great 'African-American.'

There have been a few terms I've heard. CBC is one. Canadian Born Chinese (or ABC for US born)

Banana works too, yellow on the outside but white on the inside... :p

Let call everyone by racial slurs. That way, you can't scream racism because you are a racist yourself. :p

I'm not trying to be a racist but I do think it is stupid how white people can't refer to black people as black. It makes no sense, i'm not sure how thats offensive. I've heard several of them call us 'white'. I have no problems with that and in fact I wouldn't even turn my head to see who said it if i heard it walking down the street. But yet if I say 'I work with a black person.' That is deliberatly considered racism. 'I work with a white person'.... you would assume that I work in a black community where very few white people are, but would not consider it racism.

Personally, if you want to take this a step further. I've heard several black people on TV express their opinions on how African-Americans wanted retribution for slavery. If you want to know what I think, I think we should send them back to Africa as part of our retribution since it is such torture over here for them still.

I agree. There ancetors should be the ones getting the money, not them. They didn't suffer through the slavery. They just want money.
And how come blakcs can say the N word but we can't? I thought they hated that word? I am against it and it pisses me off when they say it.

and when I say "they" I am not trying to be racist.

Yeah, I would if I had to. I realize Slavery was a bad thing, as well as us taking over indians land. I currently live in Oklahoma and my house is in a town that is well-known for being a place that the trail of tears occured. Anyhow, its still heavily populated with indians. The Indian nations own a ton of land around me and they are able to open up casino's and other things and not be taxed for it. It is pretty ridiculous that my wife can't get a job at the Indian nation headquarters because she isn't indian. But we are forced to overlook their race when giving them jobs in other working fields.

As you can see I want us to be treated as equals in the nation. Black people consider themselves discriminated. Indians are keeping shut because they know their already sucking several million dollars out of the government for no reason other than their grandparents grandparents (or longer) who mosth ave no idea about were discriminated against.

Of course, if i could find my role number (I am 1/8 Indian) I wouldn't say anything either. :D

EDIT: On further note and a semi-joking manner, I think the white people are getting the shaft here. Columbus and other pilgrims suffered all the way over here just for freedom. Shouldn't we be getting money to? Especially considering they probably turned homosexual after being on a ship for months at a time with nothin other than other men.

its all pointless.
and: HEY! im a liberal but i still think its dumb.
the "acceptable" words change every couple months for a lot of groups.

about the "n" word. its fine that "they can" and "we cant"
i dont really mind a group empowering themselves with a word that once was negative (see Bitch magazine)

The term is gayer than a bat up my ass and I refuse to use it. Black and White are the terms I used. If somebody gets on my case for it I can just tell them that I want to be called a European Canadian

So, because I know some older people who grew up calling them colored and ni***r, does that make it okay for them to continue using the terms?
