What if you're from Africa but you're white? Are you still an african american?
No. Which is why Black and White should still be the terms.
That brings up another question. What do Asian prefer? Yellow? Asian? Asian-American?

anyways, what are people with black skin called in other countries? I think calling someone an "african-american in Europe would be pretty dumb.
BTW my step-mother is black. I am not racist in any way.....except for hating the damn filthy irish
I remember seeing a concert with DC Talk making a statement that, "black, white, red, yellow, brown, we are all colored people"

I agree. Last time I checked, white was still a color in the 64 color crayon box.

I'm not trying to be a racist but I do think it is stupid how white people can't refer to black people as black. It makes no sense, i'm not sure how thats offensive. I've heard several of them call us 'white'. I have no problems with that and in fact I wouldn't even turn my head to see who said it if i heard it walking down the street. But yet if I say 'I work with a black person.' That is deliberatly considered racism. 'I work with a white person'.... you would assume that I work in a black community where very few white people are, but would not consider it racism.
Personally, if you want to take this a step further. I've heard several black people on TV express their opinions on how African-Americans wanted retribution for slavery. If you want to know what I think, I think we should send them back to Africa as part of our retribution since it is such torture over here for them still.

The term is gayer than a bat up my ass and I refuse to use it. Black and White are the terms I used. If somebody gets on my case for it I can just tell them that I want to be called a European Canadian
