I'm not surprised though at the amount of anger coming from individuals here regarding the comment Kerry made. This is the United States. Education here isn't valued that highly as XBOX 360 or a new car. People here are up for the quick fixes and short term highs.

I will need to look this up but apparently the heritage foundation did a study and found the avg income and educational level in our armed forces is higher than the general population.

Sounds like he said that if people did have intelligence, they would not join the military in the first place. However, it did not stop him from joining the military. This must mean he is suffering from his ignorance.

If you were defending a Republican like this you would have been called a "Bush apologist" many times over.

This board doesn't lean to the left.....lol, ok

Troll.

Are you saying that I am wrong?
Yes
Or are you just avoiding my post by calling me names, a common tactic by the left on this board.

No, you are wrong and a troll.

Point proven, thank you.

I'd have to agree with him. Your comment really added nothing to discussion and was meant to start a stupid flame war. It was trollish in nature.

I was pointing out the hypocracy by many on this board. Do you and senseamp go and call everyone that responds to most of the conservative posters with deragatory remarks a troll? Go look at almost any of ProfJohns threads, or posts in which pabster responds to, you will see many posts that "added nothing to discussion". Where are you there? How about almost any of Dave's posts, nope not there either.

One quick example, posted by tab in http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=52&threadid=1952138&enterthread=y

"Maybe he had a bad trip"

That took me about 30 seconds of searching, and nope, I don't see either of you there calling Tab a troll.

"make an effort to get smart "

If that were directed at me I would take offense to that.

"Maybe he had a bad trip"

This has got to be the first thread in which I've ever called someone a troll directly. This is nothing against you personally and I am well aware that there are many posters from all areas of the political spectrum that act in this way as well. I'm not exactly sure how to respond to this, or exactly what you expect of me. I don't read every thread and I don't read every post in every thread. I generally only post in threads in which I have some knowledge of the topic.

That being said, "others do it too" is a pretty childish way to go about things don't you think?

Edit: It would be an absolute waste to call the likes of Pabster a troll every time he's acting like a troll. I responded to you specifically because you've demonstrated that you can add value to the forum and I'd rather read what you actually think on the issue, than some generic response aimed at pissing off a certain group on this board.

Granted, you could say I'm not adding something to this thread by posting this, but that's kinda like an argument where someone calls someone a bigot and then someone else refers to that person as a bigot for calling someone else a bigot. If someone IS a bigot, then calling them a bigot shouldn't make you one as well.

Note: My bigot example had nothing to do with you (I absolutely do not think you are a bigot or have ever considered this), it's just an example of a pattern I've noticed on the forums.

You certainly could've done without the bolded part. There are plenty of conservative posters who add value to this board and it's always important to have many viewpoints.

Because I enjoy the debates that go on here, and I like seeing the other side of the argument. For some reason many of you liberals are intent on running anyone with opposing views off of this board. I would be board to death reading and posting in a message board where everyone agrees.

It is what it is. Noone ever advertised this board as being conservative, liberal, balanced or anything. If you like it, post here, if you don't, don't. Noone is going to change for you.
If you got something to say, say it, but stop whining that this board is liberal just because you are in a minority.

I agree with you to an extent. Like I said in my edit in my previous post, there are some posters on this board that are simply not worthy of responding to or calling a troll because they have NEVER added anything of substance to this board. So there are those people, and then there are those who troll very often, yet also contribute to the board. That doesn't excuse them being a troll the other half of the time though.

Also, while I won't say this board "tilts to the left" (I would find this to be inaccurate because the majority of americans don't approve of the administration), there are more people against the administration on this board than for them. In that sense, this is something that is unfortunate for you, but you will have to deal with.

That being said, I still think your response was trollish, regardless of what anyone else has done. You are more valuable to this forum than others I would call trolls, so I felt the need to point it out. I'm sorry if you were offended.

Heh, no need for the apology, if I got offended that easily I would have stopped reading this board long ago, but thanks.

I am not really for this administration anymore either, but I do get tired of the hypocracy and the needless bashing of anything the right does, while the left gets a free pass, I guess that was my point.

Joining the military in Iraq to get free education doesn't make sense...
You might as well fill out a FASFA form and take the subsidized loans to go with it.

There should be hell to pay for that comment.

Typical chickenhawk outrage. I don't think most veterans or service members would be offended by this at all, though it would be helpful to know more about the context of that remark.

I'm a veteran, and I'm outraged at Kerry's comments!

I think it's pretty clear in the context of where he was and the subjects he was speaking to what was said as well as implied.
The remark was directed at Bush and his record of arrogance, ignorance, and 'special treatment' as a coddled student.

If this is all the GOP shills have to grasp as an issue, they are deeply in trouble and desparate.

A whole bunch of ignorant potential GOP voters are going to be really baffled when they get to the poll
and can't find Kerry on the ballot to vote against, not Bush listed to vote for.
If all the GOP has going for them this time is to hope that the Gay Abortion, Partial-Birth Marriage, Border Molesting,
and No Immigrant Left Behind will draw enough Fruitcakes to the polls to save them, they are indeed a clueless bunch.

Divide and conquer - they have in fact used fear as a weapon, and declared their war on Democracy and the American people.

This is going to backfire on GOP like Webb novel stuff did. By mid week, Kerry will have clarified his comments, but we'll end up going into the weekend with one topic that GOP least wants to talk about: IRAQ

I think pretty much everyone admits he f'd up the joke. He should have made it more clear he was talking about Bush and not the troops. On the other hand, I think if GOP wants to use this to make this election about Iraq, Dems should let them. That's what they've been trying to do this whole year, so they should take yes for an answer.
