Umm NO, Our fords haven't had anything to with the US since the late 70's (with the exception of the EFI V8 itself) You will not find any of our fords or anything like them for sale in the US unless imported, if our fords were still based on US product, ford would have went bankrupt about 20 years ago like Chrysler did in Australia, US based cars do not work in our country the poor build quality and unreliability makes them unsuitible for our sh*t roads, our AUSSIE fords are generally over engineered to correct this.
the same goes for GMH the only thing American about them is the V8 engine and the 4spd Auto(which is being phased out for a 5sp Auto), the new commodores run a new 3.6litre DOHC V6 which is locally produced.
our 6 cylinder fords run a 4litre DOHC VCT Inline 6 That can not be found in any other car in the world, both engines are good powerplant that are rated at a 500000km life span (30yrs).
Have you guys even seen any Aussie car in the metal..I doubt it, where as we get plenty of Yank cars here so we are able to see your piss poor quality..I pity the fool who buy's america.

I just went to ford.com.au same sh1t we got. F series pickup, Econline vanes, feistas, focus etc.. I think you're "embellishing" the extent your fords have "nothing" to do with US fords. Maybe a small percentage of your fords don't look like US fords but most are identical. And I'm sure even that ugly car-truck you linked frame, electronics, drive train is all from other fords.

Check it out yourself guys http://www.ford.com.au/home/home.asp vs www.ford.com

yep, you see when aussies say ford we mean the mighty Falcon, not those other pieces of foriegn crap, sure we do get plenty of US and European Fords which are locally assembled, but when it comes to talking about THE Australian car there are only two that count..the Ford Falcon and GMH Commodore(to a lesser extent it is designed in germany by Opel)these two cars are the ones that dominate our market, it is not uncommon to see between 20 and 50 of them for a 10 minute journey across town, they are the most popular cars in Australia..the reason they are Australian made..by Aussies..for Aussie..sure our V8's are imports so what in the end they are completely rebuilt to our specs and behave quite different to the US spec engines.
the standard sixes found in either car are now both Australian designed and built..the Aussie six is decended from the mighty 4.1 six from the late 60's, it now runs an advanced DOHC configuration with VCT and sequental fuel infection and produces 182kw in base form and 240kw in base turbo form.
the GMH V6 was based on an old FWD 3.8litre buick design that had been adapted to RWD, it was a horrible engine but did give excellent economy and torque. Now the GMH V6 is an all alloy 3.6litre DOHC VCT V6, it produces 175kw in base form and 190kw in SV6 form.
these are the bread and butter engines that power those cars..no yank parts there at all.
Its just a pity that the GMH 4spd Auto is a TH700 based box, but at least the falcon runs an aussie built BTR 4spd auto. all the Manual transmisions and differentals are Aussie BTR based units.
it is because of these two cars alone that the japanese have tried to compete and failed..Mitsubishi recently ceased production of the local Magna due to poor sales and Toyota never had a chance with it Avalon...as the old saying goes Avalon drive and you'll buy a ford:D
no other manufacture even tried to compete in this market, maybe Chrysler did during the 60's and 70's but ultimatly failed and ceased to trade in Australia..their cars where just two American..big, thirsty and outdated.

There has an attempt by ford to release a US alternative to the falcon during the mid 90's, the Taurus..what a dismal failure..that car stunk worse than roadkill, not only did it sell poorly but damn it looked crook, with many question being asked "which is the front and which is the rear" it looked the same from both ends, talk about butt ugly..and gutless compared to our 4litre six used in the falcon..the 3litre V6 was garbage and did I mention that it looked really ugly..really really ugly...thank god the Aussie public has brains..cause the yanks don't

Actually back in the 60's the Australian government provided subsidies to the struggling Ford Australia on the condition that all profits remain in Australia.
this has continued to this day, it one of the reasons ford has been so successful in Australia..it is only American by name only, it doesn't even deal with the US management in Dearborn USA, and to begin with it wasn't a US based company it started as a canadian subsiduary during the early 1930's.
Australian fords only shared US product line for the first 5 years of the falcon, which almost killed it, after 1965 when the Aussie government steped in a true Australian falcon was born and we have only shared the V8 engine(although we did have our own locally cast Cleveland V8 from 1969 to 1982 which was vastly superior to the US variant and was the prefered engine for ford NASCAR engine builders during the clevelands life span)
the fact is you have no idea what you are talking about...m*therfucker
