I use pop mail but I wrote my own web client to access the pop server from anywhere. So you need a third option in the poll.

At home, I use Eudora.

IMAP FTW!!!

I suppose I will have to learn about this one.

IMAP. Works just like POP3 but it leaves your messages on the server so you can get into your mail from wherever even after you've downloaded them to Thunderbird or outlook or whatever you use.

i use MS Outlook 2003, but i must say, this is the biggest waste of code. for what outlook does, it takes up wayyy wayyyy too much in the way of resources. i mean it's just a calendering email program. plus address books.

wtf, doesn't microsoft just make it MS SQL (or desktop version thereof)based instead of doing it all within the app?

gmail, yahoo, whatever

That's now, but here's how it all went down...

Pre-college: Yahoo, Juno, etc.
College: They gave me Eudora for free, used POP3
At Work: They make us use Outlook (I just got upgraded from '98 to 2003)
At home, now: Gmail & Yahoo

For those unaware (and licensed users of Office Small Business Edition 2003 or Office Professional 2003), Business Contact Manager is a free update that adds a great deal of functionality to Outlook.

Believe it does in fact install and run off of SQL (specifically, the MSDE version).

One of the better features of Outlook with BCM is its integration with other Microsoft Suite products, including Small Business Accounting 2006. This move really has unlocked a lot of the power possible with Outlook for the average end-user.

To download the update (released just a few months ago), visit here.

I use Gmail and POP3 to download it into Outlook, but sometimes I wonder why I do.

If you use Outlook with something that doesn't require it, e.g. web-based mail, please state why.

Thunderbird at home.

At work we use Notes.

I used to have a Yahoo email address, but once they started blocking all internet based email systems at work... I got rid of it.

If there were an email client that had that feature I might switch to using outlook. Is there? What do you use?

I use Outlook 2003 and also The Bat! I mainly use The Bat! for mysubscription to various high volume email discussion groups. I use Outlook for my every day correspondence. I'd be willing to give gmail a try if it gave me a way to download the entire archive of emails onto hard disc. (maybe it can do this?)

Thunderbird - POP at home.
Thunderbird - IMAP at work.

I also have web based access for both if needed.

imap under thunderbird if I'm on my computer, web mail if I'm not.

I never really liked logging onto a web page to read my mail...

I like webbased because I can view it from anywhere with no configuration required.

Same here.

IlohaMail FTW!

Squirrelmail is 10x better.

I use squirrelmail for my webmail, and pico to ssh mail. thunderbird for my imap client.

Um... what do I vote for? I have a personal mail server that acts as my mail gateway. I use Mail for OS X and IMAP to read my mail there, I also have web based e-mail setup which I use sometimes when I'm not with one of my computers, and then I also use pine sometimes depending on my limitations I have to work with. Works great, I can access all of the same mail without worrying about if I have a copy here, etc.
