So far I like gmail just because of the search feature..

If there were an email client that had that feature I might switch to using outlook. Is there? What do you use?

I was actually thinking of going this route! Just got a MAC and am loving it. However I kind of love that I do not keep it connected to the internet and might keep it that way.

How much storage do you get with that .mac account?

with .mac you get 1 GB. I use "Mail" for my college's email (since there is a really crappy web-based), and another email account all flow into 1 inbox.

I like webbased because I can view it from anywhere with no configuration required.

Both, Outlook with IMAP and then some kind of webmail when I'm away from my computer/PDA and don't have remote desktop access.

Thunderbird.... 1 IMAP and 4 pop accounts and it tracks 4 of the dozen or so RSS'es I follow. Wish I had the time to figure out how to get hotmail and yahoo mail to work with it

You don't need .Mac to use Mac OS X Mail.app .

Primarily Outlook2003 + IMAP servers. IMAP is soooo much better pop3 - normal client or webmail, stored on server and locally, just such goodness.

Yes, Apple Mail is just like Outlook (mail portion only). You can use it with any POP3, IMAP or exchange account.
