Do you use a mousepad for your optical?

I use the mousepad for the surface.. it glides a lot better and smoother.

Nope. Maybe if I had better furniture than the standard dorm room furniture, I might.

Edit: Just to clarify, though, my mouse is perfectly smooth on the surface of my desk by itself.

yeah. My desk is a matte silver. It's a bit reflective so the optical mouse doesn't like it too much.

have not used one since I got an optical when MS first came out with them.
