I feel sooooo bad for the families of the victims in this. All these people rallying to support this guy, ignoring the lives he's destroyed.

yes, he started the crips and they are the cause of how many deaths?
hundreds most likely
as for the nobel peace prize he didn't get one he was nominated
anyone can nominate you, you can nominate yourself, in this case i heard it was his defense lawer that nominated him, it doesn't mean $hit unitl you see him with the award
and so what if he writes book for children, does that put him on the same plain as mother terrisa?
who's the lady that wrote the harry potter books, she got a large population into reading again, and i don't see her getting special treatment

I think the death penalty is a bad idea for a host of reasons, but to the extent we have one, he has earned it many times over. He has been directly or indirectly responsible for the deaths of thousands of people. I applaud him for his transformation, but that alone doesn't change what he did, or what penalty it justifies.

Most people executed aren't as closely tied into society as this one. This guy is close to a lot of people. If people that are out there gangbangin see that even if you turn your life around after you murder people you'll still get executed might make them think twice.

Interesting thought I heard today. Do you think Schwarzenegger will grant clemency to Tookie to prevent riots in Los Angeles?

exactly who do you think pays for keeping a roof over his head and feeding him 3 times a day?

I believe he does DESERVE to die; and I have no issues with capital punishment; however I believe that if he truly is doing as much with curbing gang activity as the news says he is, then he is more valuable alive than becoming a statistic. If he is not executed, he'll remain in jail the rest of his life so it's not like he's gonna go free.
I might suggest an arrangement whereby he is spared; but if he decides to quit his anti-gang crusade, it's off to the chair. (or however they do it these days).

do you know that it costs more to execute him than to keep him in prison for life?
