I remember that game. There was some other game that I liked better, though. Despite the better graphics.

Q-tip with alcohol usually cleaned them up well if the said techniques of blowing did not work (the quick "whisp, the slow hot air blow, etc.)

Oh yeah, the best game of all time was definately SMB3. Contra, Dodgeball, Tetris, Zelda.... all classics.

it didnt work too well for me. i was more of a fan of shoving another game cartridge on top of the game i was playing in the console.

LOL, I remember that one too.

It's funny where all these little "tricks" came from. Back then no one used the internet, so it's not like you'd look it up there. Yet, everyone in the world seems to have used the same methods of getting their Nintendo to work

In the original NES manuals it said to use a hair dryer with the heat turned off or on low, but most people were lazy and just blew on them

I usually got a strong paper towel... folded it, and moisten it with distilled water and cleaned the connectors... worked like a charm.

I see I wasn't the only fan of River City Ransom and Super Dodgeball. :D I don't recall any sequels to either game on future systems. Were there any?

Haha, I did the same exact thing.

Also the ol' put another game on top of the one you're wanting to play. My freshman year of college my buddy would wedge his cellphone in his to get it to work.

i actually used a combo of blowing and then inserting the cartridge so that the tip of the cartridge would still be out and then slam it down so it would clack and push in.

Funny thread, we were just talking about that this weekend.

How about the PS1.. I remember several people having to turn it upside down because the laser was too s*itty to read certain discs. This... in theroy made the laser track closer to the disc and read the media better.

This thread is great. I remember having it down to a science - blowing air into the cartridge, but not too hard and with enough heat/moisture, making sure the cart wasn't pushed in all the way, and even messing around with the power button (how long to keep it depressed). Before I sold it I was able to have it start up the 1st time about 95% of the time :)

if you drop a cookie on the ground, it is safe to eat if you blow on it first.

All you had to do was wiggle the cartradge back and forth till the games main screen flashed then hit the reset button. Worked like a charm.
