True, Contra is damn hard to top. For the matter, any game which I still remember the cheat codes to after 15 years would be.

Contra was freaking awesome

Dont forget the hot air blow, where you dont so much as "phoooooo" but "haaaaaaaa"....worked way better. Wet q-tips also worked good, after you dried them with the other side. And the single best trick I remember was to put the cartridge in normally, then press forward on it and shove it in another few millimeters. If that didnt work, Id go for the clunk.

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select, Start....

I guess I Was lucky, I kept all my games WELL maintained. Never had to blow on any of them. Still have them and they still all play. I had to blow on games I borrowed from friends though. Or use the trick of shoving another cartridge or a sock on top of a game in the system to get it to play. Well that was until I got my gold game genie and I didn't need to do the shoving thing so long as I had that at least.

All I remember is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Oh, I hated the fvcking water level in that game. I know, its only like the second level but as a kid I had a hard time swimming thru those electricuting things

I had a game genie, that thing worked wonders for making games work. Don't know how, but eventually I played every game with the game genie, not even using any codes.

The top loader is a tough find and pretty expensive.
