And 50+ years of sedentary lifestyles and fast food have crushed the varied human diet to a pulp hence the need for a daily multi. :D

KT

You have a point there. McDonalds, Taco Bell, and Dennys doesn't constitute a varied diet, and you need to move your ass once in awhile :^D

I was eating fast food all the time throughout my 20s and early 30s with no vitamins. In the last year+, my wife cooks full meals including leftovers for lunch. I hardly eat fast food anymore and also eat a daily Centrum. I didn't feel a damn difference and I sure didn't get sick any less. I feel exactly the same. I even forgot to take Centrum the last month or so and still I feel the same. I'm not saying I want to go back to fast food and would be justified, but this is my experience. I even dropped 6 lbs that I didn't want or need to drop eating "healthier". Someone tell me this is at least surely good for my lifespan.
I feel the same about water.
I have went in spurts where I drink tons of diet pop, then I go on a kick of drinking 100% water.
No difference at all. Just more tired without the caffeine.

When I drink a lot of water, I piss more... that's it.

I'm not dehydrated if I don't drink a gallon of water a day...

I put a 1/2 scoop of a GNC mens vitamin mix in with my morning smoothie. 2 scoops is the actual "recommended" size. It's far too much "stuff" at once. Toss that in with a scoop of whey, an avocado, homemade almond milk, banana, spinach, and frozen berries and I'm good to go till lunch :)

The thought of almonds, bananas and frozen berries with some vitamix sounds great,
but throw in avocado and spinach and Id....

I'm sure you love the effect of your morning smoothie, being healthy and all, so more power to you. :)

I grind up a multivitamin and mix it in with my big mac sauce so it's good for me

A multivitamin in a big mac? This would be my reaction:

But Im sure you love it. ;)

I take 1,000,000,000 IU of vitiman A daily.

If I took over 9000 IU of anything, I think Id do this:

But if it floats your boat... :)

confused at the people who don't need a multi because they "eat right" My Multi's have BCAA's which are great for you, To get the 5g that's in the pills I take you'd have to eat something like 11 pounds of steak. If my diet was spot on 100% perfect I still couldn't get everything I get from taking a few pills a day.

Hmmm....eat 11 pounds of steak, eh?

I mostly take vitamins in the mid afternoon as a 'pick me up' the rest of the day. IT WORKs!

You have zero clue they are even in there. All the avocado does is give it an even smoother texture. That's it. The spinach is completely obliterated by the blender and you don't even know it's there. If I gave you one you'd just think it was berries and bananas.

Why are you saying that as if it's a bad thing? I'll take 2 pounds of steak over a tablespoon of mystery powder any day of the week.

Nothing mysterious at all about Creatine Monohydrate, that's the only ingredient in the stuff I have. It takes close to 3lbs of steak to get 5g of Creatine, I'm pretty sure if I ate almost 3lb of steak a day for 10 years I'd be in serious condition health wise.

My mom buys these gummy vitamins that are the bomb. One is a multivitamin, another is a calcium one, and the last is an omega fatty acid one. Don't know if they do anything, don't care.

Zinc and Selenium are for sex drive. You don't need them, you WANT them. I LIKE having a healthy placebo that can recharge quickly.

Fixed.

Daily vitamins suck, my opinion. The only vitamins that ever helped me feel better were Vitamin D, Vitamin E, occasionally Vitamin B complex, etc.

In a multivitamin its like a bunch of everything you don't need (A whole bunch of vitamin C!) and hardly anything of the good stuff (Can't give you too much Vitamin D or Vitamin E you might overdose!)

All I really noticed is Vitamin D = sleep better
Vitamin E = greasy food makes me feel less sick.

depleted soils are a problem in american-style industrial agriculture, with massive soil erosion and stuff.
I guess bio carrots are fine still.

Good article. I always suspected something like that was going on. I remember carrots did taste more 'carroty' back in the 70s than they do now. :\
or maybe now banned fertilizers or other chemicals that were legal in the 70s gave them that carroty taste :p

Are you a woman or told by a doctor to take? Calcium for men is not good unless a doctor has told you to take.

do you suffer from scurvy? im thinking no so you are getting plenty of C in your diet without taking a multi vitamin

have you had a blood test done to find out what vitamins you are deficient in and need added supplements?

No scurvy = you get 100% recommended daily intake of every vitamin and mineral your body needs.

I love stupid internet arguments.

I guess as long as your eyeballs aren't falling out of your skull, you don't need glasses.

Yeah, you'd be overflowing with raw masculinity. People walking behind you would slip in the trail of testosterone left in your wake. Your stance of dominance would impregnate every man, woman and child in a 3 block radius. Honestly, I don't think you could be trusted with that amount of power; best to stick to supplements.

like i said get a blood test to find out what you need to take. people who gulp down pills because they "Think" they need them are retarded.
