Do you still use Windows XP frequently?

Everyday at work. They've been talking about W7 migration for over a year, but I've seen nothing happening...

W7 at home for me on both systems.

Actually I find that all the time there is a ton of things XP does that none of the others do. I have been running this same exact install since 2006, not a single virus or problem worth note. I actually have the tiniest slice of brain and that's all I need to have a vastly cleaner better running rig than most computers 6 years newer.

I have tried using Win8 on a few PC's and laptops...I find it horrific utter shit. Nothing fucking works, programs are now "apps" and stripped of all sanity and proper function and now spy on everything you do, you have no control over anything, you cant find a damn thing you need when you need it...if it even exists at all. All the stupid fuck "gestures" and shit. Why the fuck am I 'swiping' my damn mouse around like a lunatic to get a fucking menu? Its to god damn hard to just have a button you click? RAAAWWWRRRRAGE! There's a near infinite list of horrific broken fucked up stupid ass shit with Win8, I'm gonna stop before I get carried away.

Anyway...Win7 is less efficient/less intelligent/less intuitive than XP but not massively, so I could see myself picking that if/when I build a new PC. Hoping it's still sold when I do...if Microsoft keeps going the route they are.

I'm going to keep waiting until there's a decent hardware advancement. Use to be hardware got 20-50% faster each year, usually for the same price...and sometimes for less. But since I have built this thing it's been more like 5-10% a year (or every other year) for 10-30% more money.

I've migrated to Win7 for everything except my recording studio. XP is fine, and no need to mess with it at this time.

Pretty much only went to 7 because I wanted a reformat, and because of DirectX shit I figured why not 7; was on XP until last year. There are definitely some things they removed/fucked up that bother me, but overall I'm ok with it. Not a terribly big difference to me.

Never use it at home. However I have an older scanner that I use a few times a year, that only has XP drivers. So I use it in VirtualBox in an XP installation with USB passthrough.

My eyes are very sensitive to monitors, went through 3 or 4 lcd monitors before I finally got one that didn't give me headaches, and I could finally ditch the crt. But the way Windows 7 renders the graphics, the borders, the animations, and especially the way fonts are displayed, cause me eye strain, and the larger the monitor the worse it is.

So, yep, XP for as long as I possibly can continue using it.

Still run XP at work. I am dreading the change to 7. too many proprietary things that I need to communicate with in my job. What i have now works brilliantly and it took me a long time to get to this point.

You do realize that all those items are adjustable in the control panel?, I stuck with XP pro till last Dec, now run Win7 64bit. 1st off is if your CPU is 64 bit capable it will run much faster. 2nd, drivers are all out now for 7, I had no problem finding any for my install, 3rd, you can use more ram and use it more efficiently, a 32 bit OS can only address around 3.7 gig of ram, with a 64 bit OS that limitation is gone and even if you have less than 4 gig it will be much faster.

my BF is on Vista, so I have to use that whenever I help him with computer issues, but we're going to upgrade him to 7 as soon as he remembers to bring his laptop over to my house.

Yes. XP with 16 running processes on a SSD for older systems = instant on/off.

Have a lot of old development software and assembly and debugging tools that require 16 bit DOS support as well as low level proprietary communications and flash cartridge drivers that won't work in a VM.

First PC I built after making the switch from Mac was running Vista. I had owned a few PCs running XP before then, but never as my main computer. My next PC, which I still have, is on 7.

Work switched from XP to 7 about 3 years ago.

I used XP the most at my previous job. I was never that attached to it though. It was just another OS. I didn't even dislike Vista; I saw it as a reskinned XP.

VMs are great. One day our smartphones will have the processing power to run everything virtually. That will be great because all the shit I bought in the itunes store could be used in iOS, running as a VM on an eight core Android device!

All my work computers have it. Honestly, for my purposes 7 or 8 wouldn't be any better. I'm running 8 on my home computers, but I can't say I like it all that much.

I have Win7 X64 on all of my machines.
My folks laptop is an XP 32, which I rarely use. (Tech support when they have issues)
I can still navigate it, but I've gotten to prefer Win7.

Gotta love instrumentation machines. It's easier to keep replacing stuff so old the Salvation Army won't take for donations to keep your machines running! HP/Agilent are crazy what they want for current stuff!
