Only windows 7 nowadays, would still be using XP if it had current directX support for gaming.

i have an xp vm on my work (win 7 ) laptop. we still have customers with old xp machines here and there so sometimes i test software with it, or group policies.

i also use it a lot for adding a 32-bit print driver to a 64-bit server. /windows print drivers still suck.

Rarely. Been win7 at home for years now. At work just finalized the upgrade a little over a month ago. Now the only XP machines are mostly laptops that seem to randomly pop up, or are machines that are used for label printing and don't go on the internet. XP machines are now banned from our network, and I more or less refuse to support them now as I've got better things to do. Have had far less work orders put in since moving all our 360 pc's to win7, and upgrading along the way.

If local government can find a way to do it, I'm sure bigger operations can do the same.

Nope. My computers at home have been on Vista or 7 for a while. Only my work computer was XP. But they gave me a new computer with Windows 7 on it last fall.

nah. Work uses Vista or 7 for desktops though I mostly work on the (Redhat) Linux servers. At home I have 7, OSX 10.8, and Ubuntu Linux on various machines, though I'm considering moving from Linux (back) to FreeBSD.

Windows 7 now. 32-bit on the Core Duo laptop which does support early core 2 duos with 64-bit instruction sets (and might someday get that upgrade) and the newer laptop has 64-bit Win 7.

I have found no software that I ran on xp sp3 that won't work on either version of Win 7.

I might try 8 after they fix the UI in 8.1 (aka blue)

I still have it on this machine set up to dual-boot in case of emergency. But I can't remember the last time I used it. Got to be at least 6 months.

Only XP Mode, otherwise Win 7 Ultimate x64.

Our company still makes internal utilities that will run in XP or older OS's.

I use it for my Windows VMs. Compact and doesn't complain when I only give it 512MB.

i ONLY use it at work for testing our web apps in IE7. but it's not a pc running xp, it's the xp mode that runs in a vm or something in win7.

I'm still on it at work...apparently IT hasn't received the memo.

lots of places still like that. i worked for the regional medical group, they are only now starting to finalize testing on windows 7. lots of other projects that took priority on resources, and medical software that didnt support windows 7.

hell, it was only a year, maybe year and a half ago that they could finally move to IE 7. developers suck. or managers of developers suck, not sure which, but compatibility issues galore have kept that medical group, and some other small customers of ours, stucking using XP for way, way too damn long.

I had to deal with XP the other day on one of my folks' machines. Before that, the last time I had dealt with it (except for work computers) was ages ago. I don't know for sure, but I am thinking early 2009 was the last time I had XP on one of my machines.

I am on 7 now, and don't give a damn about 8. I'm sure I'll get 8.x whenever I replace or overhaul this machine, but that won't be for some time yet.

So I'm the only one who is still willingly using XP on their (only) machine at home?

Used to have XP at work, but on my main computer at home I didn't have XP since 2008 or so, then I had next computer which also ran XP but also got wiped in next year.
So I'm the only one who is still willingly using XP on their (only) machine at home?
You are not missing anything. The XP is behind more for security reasons rather than its design or technical options.
I like the Vista and 7 as well and they have some improvements, but I don't know anything you can do on 7 but not on XP.
The W8 is crap not much to upgrade to there either.
