15 years milking strong!

Responsible use is the key. In my experience some people seem to get addicted to it much easier than others and have trouble with control. When I have time off I use heavily and when I have serious work to do I don't even think about it.

I'll admit though, as both an undergraduate and graduate student in Architecture, I found that it helped "inspire" many creative designs. Some of my best grades were "under the influence". Now I have my own practice and tend to use more conservatively.

Back in the '70s I smoked a lot, continued on a less frequent basis though the 80s and even into the 90's it has now been several years since I tasted. If someone offered a toke I wouldn't hesitate to partake.

Oh and about motivation, among most of the kids I smoke with, I suppose we would be considered "unmotivated" by the vast majority of people.

But thats mostly because our idea of motivation doesnt have to do with joining the rat race to compete with who can gather as much stuff as they can before they die. Our motivation is internal, not external.

I cant speak for anyone else, but thats how it is around here.

That's a load of crap. The only internal motivation is a bowel movement.

Say what you want. Like I said before, if you dont know where I'm coming from, you just wont understand. It is such an ingrained part of our culture that "achievement" and work is a good thing in and of itself. I just dont buy into that. I've got my 3.0, and thats good enough for me. I dont need to be on top. I'm just a mere human being on a tiny planet in the middle of an incomprehensibly huge galaxy, and I'm no different from the fish in my aquarium. So why should I care what my GPA is, or what car I drive, or what brand name my clothes are? Those are the most inconsequential things to me in the entire world, and if I can get by by myself working minimally while saving my peace of mind, why wouldnt I want to?

That is what real freedom is to me. I see my friends working their balls off at their $8 an hour jobs, and then they buy an $80 sweater, $6 shots at the club, spend $25 on dinner and buy a $6000 motorcycle, have it get stolen, and then bitch about how broke they are and how hard life is. All of those things just dont excite me enough to get up off my ass and "achieve". What did rousseau say, "Man is born free, yet everywhere he is in chains."

So I just hang out with my friends, read tons of books (mostly philosophy and science), try to learn to play the guitar, go to class when I have to, smoke at night, play some games, and wake up the next day, with no alarm clock. Funny how depending on who you ask, I'm either living the life or I'm a lazy bastard. And for the record, I completely support myself and leech off of nobody, my parents live in another state.

My goal in life is to stay alive, and keep my peace of mind. I'm doing pretty good so far. My college degree will pretty much guarantee I wont be starving. What else is there to worry about?

I never have, but most of my friends frequently do. I might try it one day, just to say I tried it, and cause of giving into peer pressure :p

Never have and hopefully never will. I know a bunch of kids that do, and I never want to be like them.

EDIT: Also there was this one time at this kids house when a few people went out and smoked pot and then came back, and they reeked of it. Then they sprayed some cologne everywhere, and the combination of the two smells together made my nostrils burn and my eyes water. That's just more motivation for me not to do it, because that stuff smells horrible.

Many, many years ago, in "high" school, I smoked a little. Grew out of it and never did it again.

When I was in the service we used to go to a room on the second floor of the barricks and play cards and partake.
There was this skinny old (or he seemed old to me at the time) redneck from N.C. that would always play cards with us, but he would never smoke with us.
This guy had all his teeth pulled out @ 17 and wore a full set of false teeth. DRank like a FISH too he did!!

Well to set the sceen, we are talking about a fairly small room with poor ventilation and about 6-8 guys toking up.

Poor old Howie Whitlock would get BAKED from the smoke in the air,and then he would laugh SO hard his false teeth would fall out.

One time he cracked some ribs doing something but still wanted to play cards with us. He would LAUGH, then CRY from the pain in his ribs, then laugh some more, then pick his teeth back up, and cry some more!!

Ahh the good old days! ;)

I smoked like, 20 years ago until it just kept making me tired and paranoid, and oh yea, hungry. I often wonder what life might be like had I chosen a different path...sorry, this ain't a blog....

I just have no desire to. I don't necessarily look down on people who do it (I mean, we all have our vices...right?), but I have had no desire whatsoever to smoke it. It stinks, I've seen the way people are when they have, and it just doesn't seem to be all that appealing to me.
