Do you see Acura and Lexus in the same class?

Both are meant to be the more upper class luxury representation of their respective siblings, Honda and Toyota, but for some reason I feel Lexus is more up there than Acura.

Perhaps it's the fact that I can't get out of my head Acura has the Integra and RSX on their plate.

Lexus seems more distinguished.

Only thing I see different is that Lexus has a flagship V8 super lux car. Acura meets them on all the middle luxury cars.

Performance and Interior wise they are similar. I give lexus the edge on both.

IS350 not available in a manual means lexus sucks.

well i think its up there, but if you really got down to it, i would say that lexus would be a bit higher end then acura. though i would still prefer to drive an acura (TL Type S) than a lexus anyday.

though of course, lexus is just a toyota with different badging and more wood trim (how i see it - i personally hate lexus), and honestly, if i didnt know that honda owned acura, i really never would have guessed that they are the same car.

yes. both in the same class, with Acura more geared towards the younger professional crowd (RSX, TSX, and even the TL [3.5L V6 TypeS].

Acura doesn't have a v8.

A nice luxury car needs/should have a v8.

Acura's make nice teenie bopper cars... and nerd wanna-be's w/ their bluetooth.

I had an integra, and it was a great car for what it was... and that was a budget gas sipping commuter car. That is how I see acura as a brand.

lexus interiors feel far more refined than acura interiors. And yeah, they really need to make an IS350 in both manual and an AWD models.

Yeah, that's a dissappointment for sure and a waste of a RWD.

Lexus > Acura

Lexus is a true luxury mark IMHO. It's really positioned as a Mercedes alternative. Infiniti is the BMW alternative.

Acura is a "tweener." Not quite balls-out luxury, not quite bargain-basement either. It's more in line with Volvo or Saab.

Because the way Acura was priced when it came out. Acura was aiming toward "affordable" luxury while Lexus was aiming straight toward the Germans.

I don't know about Acura and Lexus being in the same class, but I do know that I went to school with people from a ghetto, thug infested area and I had a Lexus and a Kia in the same class (Chemistry).

Lexus is more luxury and Acura is more about performance.
Lexus interiors are much more refined than Acura interiors.
With Acura you usually get a cheaper price for the same performance.

My personal views
Luxury Flagship
LS > RL (Price diff exists)

Sporty Midsize
GS > TL (Price diff exists)

Smaller Sports Sedan
IS >= TL,TSX (IS ~ TL in price)

However, I do feel that Acura has more of an edge in the SUV dept (RDX/MDX) Although it's hard to beat the RX...you see so many of them for a reason.

IMO acura has no real V8 flagship. i'd say the RL equals to the GS

i consider infiniti, acura, and lexus to be in the same class.

Yup.. both brands I'll never buy.

Care to expand on that?

Sorry, I should have written more but I was heading out to breakfast. Anyways, theres nothing wrong with either car, but I'm a penny pinching cheap bastard, and cars are the last place that I want to spend a lot of money. Bought both of my current cars 4 years old for ~$10,000.
