Lexus has a better brand image than Acura.

Acura has too many kiddie cars, like RSX, TSX that is aimed towards rich teenagers.

As far as Japanese Luxury brands go, Lexus > Acura > Infiniti.

IF they were rich they would be driving S55 AMGs and M5s.

Instead they drive Acuras that probably consume 90% of their income while they survive on ramen

Acuras are a pretty unique class, nobody else really makes sporty looking but economical 4 bangers in that style. If I was in that particular market I'd take a Acura over a Mazda or anything else.

What do you drive?

2003 Kenne Bell Cobra, 2006 Avalon XLS, 1995 Camry, all paid for.

The new Lexus LS600h will crush Mercedes. Standard features include:
all wheel drive, adaptive air suspension, XM Nav travel, Mark Levinson audio system with 19 speakers, 8 gig hard drive, Intuitive parking assistant, and 430 hp.
I think it costs about $125k.
Lexus was aimed at Mercedes and has been eating their lunch for years.

Lexus more = to Mercedes.

Uh wow, no. Zero RWD cars does not equal "driver's cars", and SH-AWD is a load of bull. For some reason, Honda can't build an RWD car; see their "truck" the Honda Ridgeline, alternatively known as a Honda Pilot with the top chopped off.

Infiniti is where it's at for performance if you're thinking Japanese luxury.

I see Lexus as a more expensive Toyota. My 2006 Avalon has more power and is better equipped than any Lexus in 2006 and only cost 30k. It's clean, anonymous, and unassuming, it's basically an LS without the price tag or the snobby and gaudy Lexus stigma.

I see Acura as cheap affordable sporty looking but weak cars that teenagers drive.

bahhahaha yeah right. that hybrid is a POS. why? because you can get the LS460h (450?) which is the same car, but cheaper, lighter, faster.

sorry, i'd take any german sedan at the 100k price point over the ls600h

zee germans ftw

acura i think is more performace and sportier than lexus.

lexus reminds of my grandparents.

but yea... lexus is more luxury than acura IMO.

Everyone knows, if you buy a Lexus, it's because you're not rich enough to pay for German "reliability" or you just don't have a passion for driving.

You do understand that Lexus and Acura are far, far more reliable than BMW and Mercedes, don't you? In fact, BMW and Mercedes aren't even as reliable as plain Toyotas and Hondas.

heh yea their reputation has been in the sh*tter for the last decade. same with the standard lines like vw. the name still has prestige though😛 i guess they are riding on their long past

Toyota>Honda
Lexus>Acura

The cars just seem to be finished off and more well rounded, not to mention the high end Lexus cars just cost a shitload and Acura does not offer anything in the price range besides an NSX.

On another note, I drive a Lexus and it's one of the best cars Ive driven.

As long as you realize the Avalon was going after the TL and failed miserably then we're in agreement.
**Scratches head**

Uhh, the Avalon competes with the Nissan Maxima, Hyundai Azera and Buick Lucerne. The Lexus IS/ES350 competes with the TL.

So how is it that Infiniti has no "kiddie" cars but yet Acura > Infiniti.
Great logic there.

what's the "same old boring stuff" and what does the 460h do differently, besides offer a feel-good-hybrid-engine?

Lexus = overpriced Toyota
Acura = more advanced but not as luxurious

Just having a fast car like NSX does wonder in changing preception.
That's why every car company need to do a halo car.
