when i bought my first pair of sun glasses, i just wanted a good design...i found one for $15,
then when i paid for it...it only came out to be $5 cause it was a clearance item!

HELLZ YA....i look like a stud now....

and, yes i like to blow $$ also...why? because i can....and i have $$ to blow on.!

I have a pair of eye jackets that cost my about 120 bucks. I used to lifeguard and having a nice pair of sun glasses really makes a difference if you wear them 8 hours a day. Don't guard anymore, but my taste for good sunglasses hasn't gone down. I was even temped to replace my oaks with a 400 dollar pair of REVOs once! But i'm not that crazy.

ps-the revos were really really nice.

i don't consider myself rich at all but i have a nicw 180 pair of oakley's, and i swear i'll never go back ^_^

i've sat on mine, stepped on mine, dropped it and had somebody else step on em, and you cant' notice they're messed up at all

i just bent the frame back into shape

love my oakleys =)

Sometimes people like to buy nice things for themselves, just because they want them. It's nice to treat yourself to something nice every now and then.

<< Could never do it. My sunglasses get thrown around in my car, I sit on them, all this crap. >>

but if you paid 200 bucks for a pair, would you still just through them around? Back when I bought cheapo sunglasses, i'd always lose them or break them. But when I finally got a nice pair, my attitude totally changed. You start treating your sunglasses like you do all your expensive stuff. Once you lay down the cash, your gonna feel the need to take care of them. I've had my pair for 5 years! not too many scratches either😀

I'm planning on blowing $130 or so on an XP1700+ and attempt to OC it to XP2000+ speed.

I already have a Tbird 1.4GHz @1.485GHz, so I'm looking at 181MHz increase at best. heh I guess thats a waste 😀

hmmm lets see....

I brought a $100 Coat, $150 Video Card, $60 Memory stick, $600.00 Digital Camera, $39K car, $4K spend on vacation, eats out every day, dont smoke, dont drink beer, dont do drugs, the rest are spent on G/F <----Major maintenance Am blowing my money? Nope not a bit I'm only 27 years old and I'm sure I'll make enough to keep up. I guess its not how you spend money but how you manage your money. If you can't keep up with the credit card bills and house payments DO NOT BLOW YOUR MONEY!!!! Kids in college blow their money like there is no tomorrow. Credit company are offereing so much to them kids dammit <---legal way of being a loan shark?, I have yet to see a college kid without some kind of loans in their tails. of course if your dad makes lots of money he'll pay for it.

i only do impulse buys on candy if i'm hungry, or books & magazines that catch my eye. besides that, everything i get i shop around for, and don't get it unless it has a use. one of the reasons i haven't upgraded my video card is because i really don't need it 😉

I'm a senior in college and don't have any loans. My school isn't cheap either, about $8000 a semester.

I owe my school libary(high school) $24.50 in overdue fee. I kept three libary books in my locker and I forgot it belonged to the library 😱
They were telling me something about letting me pay off by working for them during lunch and after school at $3.50/hr. No way!. What am I? Their freakin slave?

The district make money off the kids by charging late fee and use our labor for basically free(since I'm not being paid anyting other than credit toward my late fee).

Oh well. My parents are paying for it anyway.

<< Like Amish I also hate spending money on bits of clothing. >>

That's just because your old, have a tighter budget and no style. 🙂

And gopunk said it best...

<< no, i enjoy spending my money on "sweet spot" products. >>

What's the point of hording all your money until you're old and die?

<< I spent $700.00 on my prescription Oakley Romeo's. 😀

(thankfully, company benefits picked up all but $50.00 of the price.)
>>

Dear God...where do you work and can you get me a job there? heh

<< What's the point of hording all your money until you're old and die? >>

The point is you can either have
(1) One $250 pair of sunglasses,
(2) Two $125 Oakleys, or
(3) 25 pairs of sunglasses with lots of style but not the sucker price.

No one said anything about hording money until you die, just why have 1 pair of sunglasses when you could have more?

I bought 2 framed prints to hang on the walls, 40 bucks total. I didn't *need* them, couldn't really afford the money spent on them, but I sure do enjoy looking at them. It beats bare walls.

I would never pay 250$ for something like sunglasses.

<< What's the point of hording all your money until you're old and die? >>

1. To buy a Ferrari they seldom drive and drive like a wuss when they do

2. Blow the money on lottery

3. Buying a house with swimming pool and other luxuries they never use

<< No one said anything about hording money until you die, just why have 1 pair of sunglasses when you could have more? >>

cuz that 1 pair of sunglasses r0x0r

quality of quantity yo =P

Just curious. What makes Oakley worth 10+ times more than 25 dollar sunglasses. I never wear sunglasses so I don't know anything about them. I am just curious what makes Oakley so special? (besides the name)

My two main bicycles retail for roughly $8,000 total (though I bought the frames secondhand-but-new and built them up myself for ~$5,000). I honestly do not consider this wasteful, since I have every reason to think I will use and enjoy them until I am ancient, at which time they can be handed down - God bless titanium!

oakley's have build quality and are really comfy, and they have the warranty

it's like buying a wrx instead of a hyundai =P

<< Just curious. I am just curious what makes Oakley so special? (besides the name) >>

Name brand is all. There are other brands that look as good or better. There are other glasses that protect better, stay on your head better, are more comfortable, etc. What makes a Rolex watch cost $10,000? The name.

Why were Guess and Pepe jeans $100 in the late 80s? The status symbols of the name.

Why are people willing to spend $50,000 on an SUV when a capped luxury truck will do the same for $20,000? The status symbol.

Oakley is no different. People buy it for the name.

Are Abercrombe and Fitch clothing any higher quality, any more comfortable, do they last any longer? Nope. Then why do people pay double what other brand clothing costs? The name. If the AF clothes suddenly came with a warranty would it be worth 10 times the amount that normal clothes sell at? Nope, but people will still buy them.
