What works is the ability to know your surroundings and always aware of exits -- as you will always try to avoid a confrontation. Only when there's no choice (and in defense) is it necessary to fight in the first place.

Being a martial artist doesn't make you flawless.

I have quite a few firearms myself, and I carry daily. But that is not the question that was asked, nor the answer. At some time in your life, you may need to exert force upon another (for wont of a better phrase, sue me, I'm kinda buzzed) to defend yourself or those that you care about. Drawing a firearm is truly the last resort. If you as a person cannot handle yourself without picking up a weapon, then you are a weakling and may Darwin's theory consume you.

I have a lot of firearms, and I truly know what they are capable of, and what they represent. They are a tool to protect me, and to be used as a sporting device. They do not replace my abilities and skill as a man.

Meh, I guess. I've been into probably a couple dozen fights, but almost all of which were done at a very young age, so they kind of don't count.

If I could care less, I can't fight worth a crap. But I've been told when I'm pissed, I can tear some sh!t up.
I try hard as hell to get along with people, so it's rarely a problem

I am rather coordinate, well above average (9 years of roller hockey, can juggle 4 balls, ride a unicycle fairly well) so I think that would give me an advantage. But I have no combat experience and have never been in a fight. I just don't have the personality for pissing people off or something.

Dude, I don't mean to laugh but I have to quote that... I can juggle 4 balls, ride a unicycle fairly well, so FEAR ME!

i usually keep out of trouble, fighting will be the very last resort after all else fails. even then ill try go defensive instead of offensive. im pretty light on my feet, and i apparently have pretty damn good reactions so i guess ill just dodge punches instead of giving them.

Knowing how to fight means _training_ people, years or at least a few months of it. 50% of people do _not_ have this.

lmao..

yeah.. see who wins a fight between a person who trains alot and a person who fights in streets alot.

A week ago I got really drunk, and I challenged my female friend (a second degree black belt) to some friendly sparring.

I got her in a choke hold and brought her to the ground 4 times, and one of those she had the jump on me. So imagine this drunk guy getting jumped by a second degree black belt and suddenly turning the tables and bringing her to the ground. It was awesome. I should find a drunken boxing teacher or something.
