starting up with cars....that will cost $$$
and I'd never consider photography wasteful at all. Its expensive, but getting the photos i want easily makes up for it.

If you make friends with the dudes first, you may not have to pay for the balls.

- Guns. I use up to $1,500-$2,000 worth of ammo every month.
- Guns. I collect them.
- Computers. I build one like every 6 months to keep up the new technology But I sell my old ones to help counter-balance.
- Blu-rays. I collect them.

this is why people think you can only afford X if you make an annual salary of Y. Learn to save when you want something. You shouldn't get everything you want instantly.

I'd have to offer up craft beers and coffee to my "list that I could live without but waste my money on it anyway because I want to" list.

so you buy only highend beer and coffee?

I have to ask since I have replied to I think 3 of your replies to me tonight.

Is this something only an 'adult palate' can determine? $1 coffee or beer vs $5 coffee or beer?

Obviously, it's a personal preference, but I know what "I" like and it's not Bud Light and Folgers ;)

Being a family man with a morgtage and such, I have to budget fairly wisely, I can't really afford highend cars or homes or even guitars :(

I can justify a premium on some good coffee or good beer for a lot more satisfaction though :)

upgrading HW/SW for PCs and PC gaming
- but now my hobbies are paying for themselves
.. so it *used* to be expensive .. i just figured it out :p

i guess eating "gourmet" is my last expensive "habit" - but i do all my own cooking and preparation and i am doing more organic gardening to help on the costs as i am retiring from my regular work this year to pursue my hobbies = i.e. PC gaming and HW :)

I'd love to see pot in someone's personal spreadsheet monthly budget. lol. Not saying it's not practical, lots of people smoke pot here regularly enough that they would need to budget for it but it would still be lol worthy to see it in print.
it is a 'medical expense' in California if an MD prescribes it
