so you buy only highend beer and coffee?

I have to ask since I have replied to I think 3 of your replies to me tonight.

Is this something only an 'adult palate' can determine? $1 coffee or beer vs $5 coffee or beer?

Obviously, it's a personal preference, but I know what "I" like and it's not Bud Light and Folgers ;)

Being a family man with a morgtage and such, I have to budget fairly wisely, I can't really afford highend cars or homes or even guitars :(

I can justify a premium on some good coffee or good beer for a lot more satisfaction though :)

The thing with craft beers and good coffee is that it doesn't *have* to be expensive. I brew my own at the local microbrew for around $140 for 6 cases. That's less than $1 a bottle. And outside of a handful of crafts (belgian/trapist style and white ales) there really isn't anything I can't do there.

With coffee I can stop in an get a pound of fresh roasted beans for around $12 bucks. Grind it at home and run it through the french press and we're talking probably $.25 a cup.

It's not that expensive to have descriminating tastes if you aren't pounding back a couple pints a night at the bar or grabbing a couple coffees from Starbucks every day.

Not really for me. I spend a couple of bucks a week on soft drinks (more a bad habit than an expensive one). The kids are expensive, that's for sure. I'm just too cheap-natured to spend much money on myself though I'm perfectly happy to spend on others.

I used to homebrew - that wasn't too expensive though, probably a couple hundred bucks a year at most. I used to play a ton of tennis so I probably spent $10-$15/week on balls and strings.

I've avoided golf strictly based on cost. Based on the few times I've played (and a lot of very skilled relatives), I could probably be pretty good but I refuse to get hooked on something that's going to cost me that much money.

I'm pretty cheap...probably my biggest waste now is buying shit that I need like a tool or something and then it turns out to suck and I should have gotten a different one.

Upgrading my PC, my wife's PC and my little server cost money. But I try to only use budget components and lacking any speed complaints I haven't been to bad about this for awhile. I've been trying to cut back here.
