That's fair enough, and I do enjoy giving presents to people who I'm close to, as then you can find things that you know they want or whatever, and it's a good feeling.

But then, if you can't find something for someone, it's the fact that you are obliged to buy them a piece of crap just to fill the gap that I guess bothers me.

Sometimes I do, only because I am a poor college student and around Christmas time I always seem to be the poorest. This year I absolutely could not afford to buy gifts but did anyways, and now I'm deeper in the hole. The "IUO 1 Gift" thing I did a couple years back got a laugh, but the second year I think people started to get pissed.

When I'm making more money I'll go back to enjoying it, though.

I hate Christmas because of the shopping frenzy that ensues during this time of the year. Because of it you have a ton of soccer moms out there driving even nuttier than usual causing accidents. Plus the rampant commercialism of what's supposed to be a religious holiday is disheartening, even for an agnostic like me.

I really hate the obligation. I'd rather give something to someone unconditionally whenever I feel like it and I expect the same for anyone else.

Overall, I like christmas, but I hate shopping during the holiday season. I usually have my christmas shopping done by september for this reason alone.

Personally, I hate the long lines and people get in such a bitchy mood when they go holiday shopping.

You're going to find good and bad in just about every aspect in life. If you focus on the bad parts rather then the good you'll wring the joy out of everything you do.

Watching kids open presents.
Seeing the relatives you do like.
Capturing the true desires of others by getting them presents that they'll enjoy.

Christmas = most materialistic, selfish, and skewd holiday.

I don't hate the day, but that's the truth.

I hate having to spend time with relatives I don?t like.

I hate trying to put on a happy face and wish everyone a ?Merry Christmas? when I would rather be at home watching football.

I hate buying gifts for people that have everything or I don?t have the foggiest idea what they would like.

I hate taking my staff out for Christmas lunch and trying to make conversation about nothing.

I hate that people think we should spend time together, simply because we are family.

I hate having to attend ?open house? parties that we get invited to, but don?t want to go to, but have to make an appearance.

?..

I likes christmas when it was actually a religious holiday

If I could afford it, I'd spend the entire month of December in another country, maybe Costa Rica or something, and forget about the holiday rush.

Well I'm growing to dislike the season, just because my significant others tend to break up with me during these times. This year is no exception :(

I have resisted posting YAGT so far ... alcohol keeps me going

I love Christmas. I'm great and creative at gift giving, so I kind of play it like a game. I wrap gifts ahead of time, so I'm not up until 5am wrapping and feel like crap when the kids run into the room at 7am excited about Santa. I have a special popup book that I read the kids on Christmas Eve every year. We go to a special resort for Christmas every December and buy an ornimament from a special botique they have there. The families on my parents side and my wife's side love each other, so get togethers are lots of fun.

I couldn't ask for a better time of the year and I truely feel blessed.

It ain't as fun as it use to be before my parents divorced. And all of the forced good cheer comes from businesses just trying to make another buck. I would say 50% of adults don't care much for the season.

That said, I just try to remember what the holiday is REALLY about. Not family, not trees, not food, not gifts, not spending...but giving thanks for the birth of Christ...whether He was born on this exact date or not.

I wasn't really in the holiday mood either due to medically induced mood changes. However,I looked around me really hard,I have a warm, safe place to sleep, hot food and no worries that we'll be hungry.I have a husband and a son who loves me,a new kitten, there's money for a few nice gifts, there's a tiny decorated tree.... so many good,so many things I take granted, things that much of the world does without.

There'll be plenty of time to be alone when you're dead, gather together with your loved ones.

although i do not look forward to christmas as i did when i was a child, i still enjoy the season and make the best of everything.
I do not like a lot of my family, but i take that time to catch up with the folks i do love. I enjoy getting really dressed up, i enjoy all the great food.

It makes me happy to put a smile on someones face, so i make sure to sincerely wish someone well or a happy holiday because i am getting annoyed at the amount of commerialism there is out there now for christmas.

although we do not have a boat load of money, i enjoy giving gifts to those that mean something to me. I feel good giving to other.
I could go on and on... but as i said, the Holidays are what each person makes of them. If you want to focus on the negative, that is totally up to you, but why not embrace the good things (as small as the list might be) instead?
