Do you ever feel like you own too much stuff?

I don't know if it's just the mood I'm in tonight, or if it's something bigger, but I feel like I own too much stuff. When I was in college, I didn't feel comfortable unless I could put everything into my car (sedan) and leave in one trip. But now... well, you get more stuff bit by bit.

I kinda wish I was the guy who could work on a laptop and then pick up and go. But a full size keyboard is nice. A 19" lcd is nice. A comfortable chair is nice. Something more than a card table is nice for a desk... And so on.

Does anyone else feel like they have too much stuff?

Nope. I like my stuff. It's nice to have a couple guitars, which is more than a rug. Nice to have amplifiers to hook them up to, which are considerably more than a rug. Different strokes.

No, all my stuff makes me feel superior to others who have less stuff. Or those who have an equal amount of stuff, but their stuff isn't really as nice as mine. Them too.

But your stuff is all color-coordinated and aesthetically pleasing, right? That's what I read in a thread a little while ago.

Yes. I got divorced a while back and had to move out of the house - I thought I had a lot of junk then. Now the house is finally being sold and it's amazing how much more junk I have 🙁 . Anybody want some random junk?

Family of 5 and 2 pets - I'd say we own just about enough stuff for the lot of us. Now, if and when we move, then I'll curse our greed and pack rat attitudes. 😱 🙂

Got way too much stuff, but I'm working on getting rid of a lot. My biggest problem is all the stuff I'd bought because it was something I needed or really did want...except that by the time I was finally able to get it, it wasn't something I needed any more, so it never got used. Bought too many things because they seemed like a great bargain or they were cool without really thinking about whether I'd ever use them, and now I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of them.

i once used to think like that, but now i like all the material things i have. i say.... enjoy life, you can't take it with you!

yes, i constantly think of crap i can get rid of. If you haven't used something in a year, then most likely you'll never use it. Also if there is something new that I want, I make sure to sell everything that will be made obsolete by the new purchase, and put that money towards whatever it is I want.

My sister has to make path ways in her house just to walk. There is no place to even put a glass down.
She has 10 of everything she needs, and 20 of everything that nobody needs. It's absolutely crazy over there. So with that said, no I never feel that way.

I'm materialistic, especially when it comes to clothes. However, I always give away articles I no longer wear, and most of the time they're in top condition. Last week I gave my roommate a $120 pair of jeans I had two of and I never wore. I often give to friends or charity.

So, you see, I keep buying things, but I also purge from time to time, which I enjoy doing. I'm an organization freak.

I am a contradiction.....I am not materialistic yet I have tons of stuff. I am a car guy, I collect and restore old cars so I naturally have quite a bit of stuff in the garage/shed alone. I even have car parts in the attic. I could probably assembe 2-3 from just parts if I had a frame to bolt them too....I even have complete drivetrains sitting around. I won't even get into the amount of computer stuff I have as it is also obscene. I am seriosly considering downsizing on a big scale since I have 2 houses loaded to the gills with stuff. I'm pretty sure it is time to get rid of all the stuff I KNOW I will never need in the future.....it is just really hard to get rid of classic car parts that are hard to replace, even if you won't use them.
