Where are you from? Someone told me they liked my accent, which is interesting because last I checked theres no region-specific accent in south Florida.

alabama, but my accent is no where near as bad as most alabamians. which is why i always thought i never had one... 😛

i dunno, but i've met a TON of chicks that like the southern accent. i never though i had one until people told me it was cute... go figure...

This is a great point. People say American accent this, or whatever accent that ..

Well, people don't all speak the same everywhere. Even up here in Canaduh, between the different provinces people can speak quite differently. I speak with people from across the country on a regular basis and man at first some people were really hard to understand!

So you can't really say "american" accent, can you? There are probably a ton of different "american" accents that are all very different from one another, and it's probably true of many other countries as well.

Yep, I'm in BC and I can definitely distinguish Ontario accents. The Quebec accents are hotter though.

When I was studying abroad in the UK a few years back I remember it being a good start for a conversation, but most British girls were more interested in you if you were able to have a meaningful conversation with them instead.

The American accent really is very unattractive, sorry. It's among the worst, right up there with Indian accents.

Why do you hate America?

Didn't we go over this in the other thread? Both he and his brother secretly love America, and both being New Zealanders their Americophilic desires cannot be heard (most likely because there aren't any other people anywhere near them and those whom they do come in contact with only speak Sheepish). As a result when it comes to expressing those feelings they can only act like 3rd graders, going around pulling girls' hair and making them cry, or stepping up in front of their crush and calling them names.

It's cute, really, and understandable. After all, with Asian countries slowly resuming the importation of US beef, New Zealand's economy is about to take a major hit and there is sadly very little foreseeable future.

British people love American accents. In fact, everybody loves American accents. Otherwise, the US film industry wouldn't be so strong.

Canadian accents are very well received abroad, I know that much. Not sure about all of you guys below the belt though.

Also I punch kittens and separate lion cubs from their parents for the lulz.

Ehh, where I live about 20 mils south of the Wi Border, the accent sounds the same as the people in Toronto .....

Does that mean Canada is secretly invading south? That would explain why they strategicly placed the vast majority of their cities and population near the US border!!!!!

ive lived in vancouver for 13 years and i still cant tell the difference between acanadian accent and say, californian. aside from the occasional "eh" that we throw around, of course.

southern accents are totally noticeable though.
