Like another user said, there are many American accents. I'm not a fan of the "generic" mid-western accent and the southern accent is fucking ridiculous. New York accent is obnoxious. Colorado accent is not so bad (kind of soothing), New England accent is awful (at least I think it's the New England accent, kind of like Peter from Family Guy).

I don't have an accent, my cousins in Canada (Toronto) said the same as well. I got around perfectly fine in England/Europe when I was there for study abroad. I wasn't disrespected or made fun of by anyone cause of it, its how you portray yourself, not how you talk.
