bet you score straight A in law school and have lots of expensive criminal clients ;)

btw, I'm in the harrassing mode right now since they don't agree with my opinion :D

No No No, The laws intent was to protect the citizens from GOV'T interference. That same "spirit" does not extend "safe haven" from private individuals or entities.

Care to keep going?

You know, you sound exactly like I did when I was in 7or 8th grade. Full of idealist views and interpretations. Infact I can remember repeated "arguments" with a civics instructor about this very issue, but I always lost because I used to think that FOS extended farther than it actually does. Go ask you teachers on Monday;) If you are not still in school, then I apologize to you because our school system seems to have failed yet again.

EDIT - Found the LINK I was looking for. Please take some time to read that and let it soak in;)

True! The Government would never try to impose common sense through laws.

Of course I don't listen too or buy DMB music either for the same reason. Frankly I think boycotting someone based on their political opinions is nothing more than a foolish knee jerk reaction and I think that anybody who would advocate that others Email SNL to complain about them having the DC's as guests are narrow minded morons.

However, being a Moron is allowed by the first amendment and if other want to follow suit then that's their right.

<---Narrow Minded Moron, drive a pickup too, he, he...

God I wish rear window gun racks were legal in my state...

Rednecks make me laugh. Of course they boycott the only country music group that's even remotely worth listening to

They have the right to say pretty well anything they want, and I support that right, however, I have the right to vote with my $ in support of my opinions.

I read somewhere that their album sales are actually up since this little tempest exploded, and that they've moved up the chart. Sounds like there may be more Americans opposed to the war than some will admit. They simply aren't as vocal as the war's supporters.

I seriously doubt that those who listen to the DC's drink French Wine or eat Brie. They are more of a Pabst Blue Ribbon and Pork Rind crowd.

Are you suggesting that those who drink Beer and eat Pork Rinds are inbred Rednecks?

Depends on your point of view Bunky. I could be saying that those who like DC's type of music are more down to earth and unpretentious. Though I like Brie I would rather have a beer over any Fu Fu French Wine. Of course I'm not Moronic enough to boycott someone or some country because they have views that differ from mine.

God, I get so tired of you guys and your mindless personal attacks on anyone who disagrees with you.

I grew up in a law enforcement family. I worked as a civilian employee of a law enforcement agency for several years. Most cops are good, honest , hard-working public servants. They are dedicated to helping others. They work long, hard hours, putting their lives on the line every day for sh*t salaries, just so people like you and me can be safe and happy and free. They have a no-win job. They deserve our utmost respect.

Unfortunately, there are also a few bad cops. Some are bullies who never grew up, or control freaks who want to run other people's lives, or self-righteous crusaders, or power hungry, or even dishonest crooks who figured that working from the inside was more profitable and less risky. And even the best cops can show poor judgment in a personal crisis or a moment of weakness, have a bad day, or simply make a mistake. After all, behind the badge and the guns, cops are imperfect human beings just like everyone else.

That's why we have to have an effective system of checks and balances. Police must have the tools they need to do their jobs, but there must be controls in place to prevent abuse. Ashcroft, et al, have already eliminated many of these controls; "PATRIOT" II is in the wings. Ashcroft is trying to turn this country into a police state, and that's wrong. As we have seen over and over and over, authority without accountability leads to abuse.

We cannot secure this country's liberty by taking away our freedom.

Inbred Rednecks listen to David Alan Cole, not the DC's

So I listen to NPR (95% of the time) in my pickup, drink domestic wine, didn't marry my cousin, and emailed SNL to protest the DC's (and all the advertisers on last week's SNL show), am I still a moronic redneck?

Could have sworn I was a conservative capitalist with libertarian leanings:confused:

Are you sure you're not falling for pro-war propaganda? I was mistaken about an increase in unit sales - they actually fell about 15% - but their sales rank increased, and their unit sales drop was smaller than the sales drop of the other top albums.

Here's an excerpt from an article on E! Online:
Although radio airplay subsided about 20 percent, Home's sales remained strong relative to other current releases. Overall, the album finished the week ended Sunday by selling 124,000 copies, down 21,000 copies from the prior week, according to SoundScan data. However, when compared to the other top-selling albums, the Chicks fared pretty well. Home experienced about a 15 percent drop-off, while the top 5 holdovers from the previous week's charts averaged nearly a 26 percent decline.

With Home holding up better than its competition, the Grammy-winning disc actually climbed two spots to number four and remained number one on the country sales chart. (Of course, the fairly stable sales stats could be attributed to those fire-loving yokels stocking up on Home for the next burning.)

Furthermore, the Chicks' upcoming concert tour is sold-out across the country. Even the airplay drop could be explained away--the decline in spins could be consistent with the natural course of an album that's now a full 29-weeks-old.

Sounds like they held up pretty well to me, especially given the age of their album.

Maines admitted that she told a London concert audience that the group was ashamed that the President is from their home state of Texas, but added, "It was a joke and it wasn't planned. And it was really funny at the time. It got lots of cheers, and that's what it was meant for. You see the trouble that you can get into if you speak religion or politics. It gets people very upset."

I want people to hear me out. I believe her. I think they just made a huge mistake. Look, the Dixie Chicks are not Robbins and Sarandon, or Garofalo. Those people are unapologetic. The Dixie Chicks are the only ones I know of who have apologized. I have never seen them at anti-war rallies.

When they issued their apology they said they had been in Europe and got caught up in all the anti-American nonsense that was/is so pervasive over there. They made the joke in concert. Think about it. How many of you have been to a concert and the artist says something they think you want to hear. "Your City has the greatest fans ever!" The crowd pops. Things like that.

I live in the south. I know the Dixie Chicks fan base. They are very patriotic, almost to a fault. I think they have gone overboard with this. I think it has hurt them. I think they should re-evaluate the situation because it makes them look foolish. They make me look foolish. We're not talking Madonna here. They are probably apolitical. They got caught up in something and made a mistake. They don't have a history of being outspoken demagogues.

Well isn't that nice. White southerners are the only group not protected by political correctness and hate speech. How lovely.

Hey Californians aren't either! Of course we probably deserve it:) BTW, Rednecks are found elsewhere besides the South. In fact I didn't see where he mentioned Southern "Whites" at all!
