District 9 Trailer!

Ok, time to take a break from the overhyped guaranteed-money machines that we're all going to see this summer.

If you take a chance on something this year, make it District 9.

A little background: Back in 2005, a guy named Neill Blomkamp directed a short called "Alive in Joburg" which depicted aliens having come to earth and blended with the population of South Africa as another minority under the apartheid government. It's filmed in a documentary style and oddly powerful. Some of you may have seen it.

Anyway, Peter Jackson got behind it, they financed this thing, and now the feature length film based on the concept is coming out this year. Catch the teaser here:

Looks very interesting. I might have to see if I can coax some people into seeing it with me when it comes out.
 
I've been following this one for a while, looks interesting. io9 has a few viral type videos on it. I'm glad this film is getting some momentum.

Yeah, w/ Peter Jackson producing that as well, but they couldn't get the investors behind it so they said screw it and made this instead, my guess with the hopes it does really well and they can get the money they want behind their Halo project.

 
Saw the trailer last night on TV, I'm really looking forward to this one. It could be really awesome, or really awful. I hope it's the former.
 
I saw the trailer before Brüno and it did look pretty cool. I'll go see this.

Looks like Cops + Independence Day + Mech Warrior + Predator. Might be too strange for me. I think I'll just wait for rental.
 
Saw an ad last night and had to change my underwear. d-9.com has info but there are a couple of other sites, like the fake blog by the underground alien guy. High hopes for this. Really high hopes for this movie. I hope they don't make it suck ass or turn into some silly anti-racism cluster jerk.
 
I'm looking forward to seeing it (when it comes out on DVD)
