Ok, time to take a break from the overhyped guaranteed-money machines that we're all going to see this summer.
If you take a chance on something this year, make it District 9.
A little background: Back in 2005, a guy named Neill Blomkamp directed a short called "Alive in Joburg" which depicted aliens having come to earth and blended with the population of South Africa as another minority under the apartheid government. It's filmed in a documentary style and oddly powerful. Some of you may have seen it.

Anyway, Peter Jackson got behind it, they financed this thing, and now the feature length film based on the concept is coming out this year. Catch the teaser here:
