Well if I started something I would be leaving on a stretcher. I am not a big guy. I could probably take one down but the 6 others would make quick work of me.

I'd go out swinging then sue the pants off them and your company for not providing a safe work environment.

Don't assume that everything unions do is bad.

I have a friend who is a teacher. She was reprimanded by her principal for pumping breastmilk (she is breastfeeding her newborn) in her private office over lunch. If you don't know, not pumping or breastfeeding is painful for the mother. It takes 20 minutes during which time she can grade papers or prepare lessons. The principal said that she while she was on the job she couldn't do anything that wasn't work. The union has intervened to help the principal understand why it is to his benefit to let her do this.

Since the dawn of time, bosses have taken advantage of the workers. In the absence of government regulations, the unions enable people to take back a little bit of power.

Clearly many union workers abuse that power--thus the decline and fall of american auto manufacturers--but unions are important and valuable to teachers, nurses, police, fire and rescue workers, and many other important and underapreciated professions.

Derogatory generalizations can be made about any group based upon anecdotal evidence of offensive behavior.

I think I would be off the clock, and I believe I am off company grounds after I pass the picket line.
And I wouldnt go out swinging, I would go out stabbing. I keep a screwdriver close by in the car for such occasions.

Well the way I look at it, when you walk off the job, you should walk off the job. Not stand around and complain when the company hires someone to replace you, and then take that aggression out on the people who didn't walk off with you.

Well, normally the OP wouldn't let some one give it to him up the ass like that, but.....oh God, nevermind :p

Yeah, the answer to all your problems - sue someone...

Now I get to fill out a special incident report. Nothing will ever be done of course, but if I had spit on one of them I probably would have been fired. But I guess you cannot fire a guy without a job. And what are they gonna do? Tell him he cannot walk in front of cars anymore? lol
what a disgusting pig, and well... it goes that he isn't intelligent enough to realize unions aren't helping him keep his job.

it is an excuse to not go get another job, since most of the time they can't

Similar incident happened to me a few years ago. I didnt get spit on, but where I was working had a union strike, the rule was they could block the entrance for 30 minutes. So I would just sit back, relax in my car for 30 minutes. I was a summer hire at the time. They called me scab, go back to college, etc. I got paid pretty handsomely though, worked a ton of hours, was given free lunch.

It would appear it is considered assault and battery to spit on someone.

In the context of criminal law, "assault and battery" are typically components of a single offense. In tort law, "assault" and "battery" are separate, with an assault being an act which creates fear of an imminent battery, and the battery being an unlawful touching. Assault and battery are intentional torts, meaning that the defendant actually intends to put the plaintiff in fear of being battered, or intends to wrongfully touch the plaintiff. The wrongful touching need not inflict physical injury, and may be indirect (such as contact through a thrown stone, or spitting). This article describes the law of assault and battery as it is commonly applied, although the law may vary in any specific jurisdiction

Ah yes, the e-thugs come out.

There are 7 guys and just one of him. What is he going to do? Say something? Do something? Then what? He just has 7 guys spitting at him (or worse).

And seriously, police have much better things to do with their time than fill out a report for a "spitting incident".

It's gross. It sucks. But the best thing you can do is to simply ignore it and get on with your life. They want attention and not giving it to them is your best option.

Just sit there next time with your brakes on and do a burn out. The smoke from the rubber is very disguisting and will probably get them to move.

I miss the 1970s....when the company security got to shoot the picketing SOBs on site and local police covered it up.

Actually in most states that's assault. File a police report. Of course, if you don't know which one did it then nothing much will happen.

You drove your personal car through a picket line and it just got spat on? Consider yourself lucky.

Goodyear should be providing off-site parking and bussing everyone in.
