Why is stalking an acceptable practice?



This thread was created from posts originally contributed to the Open Mic thread, but since it took on a life of its own and began to derail the Open Mic thread I have moved them over to this new thread.

This new thread is not relevant to P&N, and so it will likely be moved at a future time to a more appropriate venue (Moderator Discussions or OT), without sanction to the OP, to ensure P&N remains P&N.

For now, discussion on the topic of cyberstalking needs to go here, not the Open Mic thread.

Why is stalking an acceptable practice?

Stalking is a crime and it is not acceptable.

For practical advice on what to do with a suspected cyberstalker, see this guide Andrew Heenan's Internet Stalkers.

Note the persistent message in the "What to do" section regarding documenting the cyberstalkers actions.

When you ultimately decide it is time to report the stalker to the moderators you will do yourself the best service by also documenting/detailing this log of stalking events.

Innocent until proven guilty still applies, so you can't expect immediate permabans for a member who post pseudo-stalking remarks but has not established a documented trail of stalking behavior.

I thin k the mods are too busy to do your foot work....

This account bears the scars of a few whacks of the banhammer, this is true. But generally when I have ripped someone a new one that far it is because I have been badgered and pushed too far by certain "protected" posters who were allowed to go from thread to thread and harass me personaly derailing threads and endlessly going OT to score points while mods looked the other way. I am a opinionated firebrand snarky a-hole, but I try to keep it political, not personal.

I hope this "stalking" is taking place somewhere other than AT P&N, otherwise you're bitching about someone posting in your threads on a public forum that you can walk away from at any time, and that's just sad.

The nods or a mod told you what to do to stop the stalking.
They even told you to document it and something would be done.....

I see no issue here unless you are so full of your self that you believe that you should not have to do as the mods asked you to do......
