I'll give my personal opinion on this...
Most of you in this forum constantly overestimate the abilities and intelligence of the American populace. Just by being here and forming coherent sentences in your posts you are above the average American's writing and critical thinking abilities.

The media has complete control over the average American. So essentially the typical American voter is either voting against Fascism or against Socialism. These aren't even terms that they understand, but they are terms they've been taught to fear.

Are you ever going to come to terms or understand the people who are racist or who do want Trump as a fascist dictator? Of course not. But being a moderate conservative and knowing many moderate conservatives I know it's possible to have good conversations with many of you and many of us have been convinced not to vote Trump.

Don't give up on half the country when it's more important than ever to try to have those conversations that bridge the gap. Also, if you truly think that all Trump voters are racist or fascist then I'd encourage you to reexamine your own beliefs or maybe just talk to some different people.
If they aren’t racist or fascist, but they know Trump and the GOP are, why do they vote for them? i can think of no evil greater to vote for, and it makes them just as bad in my opinion.

I have an idea, maybe conservatives should listen to what liberals are saying considering conservatives have won the most votes for president exactly once in the last three decades.

It would be nice if liberal talking points and beliefs were presented honestly to the general public instead of things like "abolish the police" "socialism" or "cancel culture".

Believe it or not you can have a conversation with a conservative about adjusting police funding, setting up a successful healthcare system, or limiting hate speech. Not every conservative for sure, but many of them.

Is this multiple choice?

FLAG!
False start by the offense.
Reaching.

Fixed auto correct error. If they don’t know, that just means they aren’t paying attention to the big picture of what the GOP/Trump has been doing these last 4 years. It’s a gradual slide into fascism they are playing hoping most won’t notice until it’s too late to fix it.

I agree that such a conversation is possible but we should remember that the reason those topics are not debated honestly is because the more extreme conservatives make a deliberate effort to falsely describe them to more moderate people.

Media doesn't do a good job when polling/intervewing people. They ask question which allow someone to just spit out talking points.

Q: Will you vote for Biden?
A: No, because he is a socialist and will lead country to socialism.

At that point you need to follow up and ask which Biden policy do you consider socialist? I guarantee they won't be able to name one which will expose without saying their ignorance of the term.

Blame Republicans for voting Trump out, the data shows how. Although they still voted red for their local and state races (hence the lack of a blue wave for the senate or house) they voted Biden for the big race. Republicans voting blue up and down the ticket didn't happen.
It’s interesting that some voters rejected Trump but also rejected the leftward shift of the Democrats in down ballot localized elections.
I heard this morning Trump got 35% of the Muslim vote. Did they forget Trump tried to ban them from this country and wanted a Muslim registry? Do people have that short of a memory or are they that stupid? Am I off base with that?

Same with LGBTQ people. Trump and Republicans were campaigning to actively take away their rights. WTF??
For some, they are willing to look past his bluster because he’s delivering something else that is more important to them. The pandemic has somewhat changed the coalition arithmetic, take Trump out of the equation and you will still have members of the blue coalition who will oppose Biden on this issue.

More important then their very existence??

Yeah I'm sure some black people back in the day voted for George Wallace but I'm sure it was low single digits. Statistics just work that way.

Geez I have to eat my words in the same post but just trying to be accurate. Stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. I'm going to take time to research this. There must be some sort of rational explanation.

The republicans and right wing have framed this idea that the left is to blame for all their problem while pulling the rug from right underneath them. The people are mostly dreamers that believe they will be Donald Trump one day. They cheer for tax cuts for the rich while working min. wage jobs and/or are on pub assistance of some sort. They need to all be more pragmatic, and understand that the number of people that can be at the top is extremely small. Vote for your current best interest. Not your ideal you best interest. Stop being fleeced by the right. Vote to make economy a more fair playing field. No one gives you a job out of the goodness of their heart. Production is determined by demand.

from where?
This says 17% of muslims voted for trump
Tried to find other data but didn't see much. One AP article said "8 out of 10" muslims vote democrat.

The Newsweek article cites exit polling indicating 28% of Trump’s total votes, up from 14% in 2016.
I was curious about this too. This is an interesting explanation. They're basically LGBT people who value standard (supposed) republican issues more heavily.

"LGBTQ conservatives interviewed tend to value the same things as as other conservatives: They believe in small government, have an “America-first” mindset, and are anti-abortion. "

Have you been to a sizable Muslim community in the US? The one in Queens has a pedestrian street food and vendor culture. I could see, at least under the restrictions of a pandemic, they buy into Trump’s promise to “reopen the economy”.

Here is a poll of Muslim leaders. Even their premise for supporting him is false. What was his #1 promise?

Build a wall and Mexico will pay for it. What's the point of supporting someone when they don't want you to be a part of their country?
