So, Brunswick should buy what size for his intended purpose? And, shoot at what size?

I dont know much about photography so I will be on all auto settings, and want to point and shoot. Also I plan on taking pictures at 1600x1200.. i think any more then that is a bit overkill though i could be wrong.

Shoot at the highest resolution you can. Then resize it manually if need be.

1536 x 2048 compressed (jpeg) is 1.3MB. Example

you should take pics at the biggest possiable resolution and then make them smaller because thats easy, makeing them biggter is a pain cause they start looking like crap

Ahh I see. I guess if i get a 512mb CF/MS, I would just take the largest pictures possible and then do resizeing.

I was looking on amazon and they have the new model to the DSC-V1, the DSC-W1 anyone have any expieriance with it? it boasts a 2.5inch lcd..

Image Resolution, size, and compression: What does it really mean?

If every single picture you take is going to be a candidate for 8"x10" prints, go ahead and shoot at 5MB per image, but the recycle time for uncompressed images is unbearable to me. I save that for images I KNOW will be printed full size. I shoot a LOT of images quickly all the time. You know, snap shooting?

Listen meathead, I haven't heard you make one disparaging remark about the incessant Canon fanboism around here. Why is that? I've owned a Canon, as well the Sony. Bang for the buck CLEARLY resides in Sony's camp!

Relax, I doubt Sony makes your Canon's sensor. (But, you never know)

Nobody cares about little wienie SUVs, even if Cummins makes its engine!

Not bad, but $359.00 shipped still looks like the best all around deal to me. Personally, I'll sacrifice portability for an even better, larger camera, but I know I'm in the minority on that.
