Three things-

First, you just go out and find someone like Bin Laden. He would be well protected and hidden.

Second, Bush never stopped looking but did say he wasn't as much of a concern as most would have liked. If that was true or said to throw terrorists off I can't know.

Third, we don't know if Obama did anything differently than Bush, but I don't care. What counts is that we didn't give up and we finally got him. Kudos to Obama and all of the many people who worked to pull this off.

He went into the Middle East guns blazing - so, Osama was able to slip away.

He then spent the rest of his career invading Iraq and playing the stupid American being led around in circles by Pakistan, all the while hundreds of thousands of people died.

your obama gets credit for not changing the Bush policy. Had it failed he would be blaming Bush like he usually does.

Obama continued the Bush operations, including Gitmo, from whence came the original intel about the courier that eventually made this operation possible. He also intensified the attacks inside Pakistan over what Bush did, taking the fight to the terrorists who were (and are) being protected by elements of the Pakistani government and military. He deserves considerable credit, as he took some heat internationally and domestically for this policy. Who knows if even Bush would have had the stones to pull off a unilateral penetration that deep in Pakistan?

I'm certainly no Obama fanboy, and I give full credit to those hardworking CIA and military people who made this possible, but I give Obama a lot of credit for this. For once, his "I love me some me" speech was entirely justified in my opinion.

You do know that linguists have examined his speeches and found that he uses the first person LESS frequently than previous presidents, right?

That would have to be linguists working for the Obama White House. You're never going to convince any objective person who listens to his speeches that he uses the first person less than other Presidents.

"I love me some me" is Southern; it is NOT particularly black. But thanks for playing the race card. Only fifty-one left in the deck!

I can't imagine how pathetic your world must be that you tried playing the race card from that quote, truly a sad little thing you are.

... including Gitmo, from whence came the original intel about the courier ...
Can you cite a source for this claim? It contradicts what I've read.

Here's an AP article, printed in the Houston Chronicle (from the first link I found on Google): One unwary phone call led US to bin Laden doorstep

Here are the relevant sections:
[ ... ]
In a secret CIA prison in Eastern Europe years ago, al-Qaida's No. 3 leader, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, gave authorities the nicknames of several of bin Laden's couriers, four former U.S. intelligence officials said. Those names were among thousands of leads the CIA was pursuing.
[ ... ]
Mohammed did not reveal the names while being subjected to the simulated drowning technique known as waterboarding, former officials said. He identified them many months later under standard interrogation, they said, leaving it once again up for debate as to whether the harsh technique was a valuable tool or an unnecessarily violent tactic. ...

you can also thank enhanced interrogations for this end result.

Reading's not your strong point, I see.

In 2007, U.S. officials who were interrogating Guantanamo detainees finally learned the real name of a former Khalid Sheikh Muhammad protégé who had become an important confidante of Abu Faraj al Libi. Al Libi was captured in 2005 and also taken to Guantanamo."

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM), who was repeatedly subjected to methods including “waterboarding” and stress positions, provided the CIA with the name of bin Laden’s personal courier, according to US officials.
A second source – also an al-Qaeda “leader” held at Guantanamo Bay – then confirmed the courier’s identity, sparking an intense manhunt that resulted in the dramatic final raid.

Years of intelligence gathering combined with controversial interrogations of Al Qaeda members at Gitmo ultimately led Navy SEALs to kill Usama bin Laden at his Pakistan compound..

Uhmmm, no it wouldn't be. It would be people who analyze these things every day. You can claim you will never be convinced, and that's fine. Reality won't change though.
