I am sure that the guy is just heartbroken that you chose career over love, but $hit happens. You probably did him a favor.

Agreed. If this is a true story, then just give it time, both of you will find other people.

your heart sometimes overthrows your mind...my advice is to not let it overcome to the point where you feel horrible or think it's a mistake.. balance out the mind and heart. :)

I never in my wildest dreams thought you would post about our relationship on a public forum...this is one of the reasons why I decided to break up - you make decisions like this without consulting me.

Haha, and as I'm reading more of these posts I guess this was a random thing for me to do. Well, here's some explanations if anyone is still reading this thread:

1) My ex loves AToT. He used to email me entertaining threads from time to time, and I found the posts hilarious and noted it was heavily trafficked by males.

2) We broke up Tuesday and I was pretty upset. I'm far away from my family and friends right now because I chose to move out here to be with him for a few months to see how life would be if we were to be together all the time. However, as a girl, support networks such as close friends and family are extremely important to me, and even though loving someone is a wonderful and blessed experience, it's not equivalent to fulfilling my own dreams and other desires in life.

3) I posted on AToT to see if he would read it (and maybe really realize how much I do care about him). And also to get a male perspective on things.

4) Typically, girls tend to be modest about how they describe themselves because they don't want to sound pompous and vein regarding their looks. However, I'll say this much: Keeping fit is super important to me, and I've been offered modeling contracts in the past. I think I'm pretty hot.

This post makes me want to call shens on the whole situation. It just seems... off.

I'm the ex. Yes it was a very special relationship and I am glad most replies to Lily were constructive.

I don't really have anything to add to what's been said. I wish things could be different, but I already committed to attending alw school in Berkeley before she found the DC job.

I hope we end up together in the end.

I hope you two do also. Unfortunately I don't believe in the whole "if it's meant to be..." line of thinking. I believe that if you want something to be, you have to put in the effort to make it happen. Someone's going to have to decide that the other person is more important than anything else in their life, or you'll both have to be single when the school/job is over.
