Diablo 3: Auction house to accept real cash

What I find interresting is that they don't have the real currency AH for hardcore. What a wussy decision. They put it in softcore to (1) take out the middle man and give Blizz some of the action, then to (2) reduce scamming.

What, people aren't going to go use 3rd party auctions now for hardcore?

They're afraid of anything that might make them the bad-guy I guess. "Blizz made money off my hardcore items then I died and lost it all!!@?!@#!"

This is probably so they can slip their own items in for sale. Activision was probably hating on WoW for their inability to go full force into selling items because it would destroy their player base. With this system in place, it won't just be mounts/pets that cost money; you can bet there will be "exclusive" swords/armor you can only buy with money from Blizzard themselves.

I dont think Blizzard plans on putting their own items in the AH. They said it will be completly player ran.

Sure they will. All it really means is that instead of putting out stuff on the AH, they will put it on the Blizzard store that you can use your Blizzard Bucks to buy. Comes out to the same thing just that way Blizzard will have stayed to the letter of what they said.

If they do, it'll be purely cosmetic.

I don't know if they'll even do that.

They didn't with SC2.

I see what you are saying, like ingame mounts and pets from WoW

Exactly like that, except this time they will have the 'Blizzard Bucks' that you get from selling things on the Cash AH to use to sell it. At first it will be small silly things like a custom banner or something. But D3 doesn't have as many fluff items to sell as WoW does, so it won't be long before they are selling epic lootz.

This is true, WoW has always been the, if you will, cartoony side of blizzard whereas Diablo has been the dark slaying side.
