wow fuck that.. that tears it.. will not play this game 1 second.. Blizzard has jumped the shark now.

everything will be real money then.. hell with that..
I cannot believe people don't see this as a huge negative.

No, everything doesn't have to be real money.

1. Don't use the AH
2. If you do use the AH, use gold only

BAM! Fixed! Denuncio!

Don't worry this will never be purchased by me.. period.. and I am one of the older gamers.. (40) and will never "conform" to this kind of business practices..

I'd sooner give my money to my other hobbies.

I doubt you will be missed, as there are many, many people excited for D3.

If you are so old, why do you type like a kid ;)

Maybe you just don't understand what I'm trying to say. It might take 50 hours of your free time to get one piece of loot where it would cost less than an hour's work to purchase it on the auction house.

Aye, but the whole point of D2 is the gear climb and finding loot. You are just buying your way out of the game.

Why even play a game like D2 if you are just gonna give yourself loot? There really is no reason to.

Good thing you don't have to use it, and you can't tell if someone found their gear or bought it..

wasnt in game gold pretty much useless in d2 anyway?

Mostly. It was useful for gambling. (Which could yield some good stuff) What's your point...? EDIT: Nevermind, now I see it.

I guess if there is no stash limit then gold could become useful.

I doubt that will really matter, if people really think that buying gear would make them a better player then they probably would've done it illegally.

The thing is most of the players are going to use the auction house for normal in game gold transfers as hopefully they removed that idiotic gold cap and dropping a certain amount when you died like they had in d2.

This will actually make the gold worth something unlike it was in d2 since people can get gear with gold now easy.

I really don't see a large amount of gear actually being sold for real money as everyone will be trying to sell crap unless they actually charge you to list items on the AH for real money but I can see characters being the real only thing that gets sold like it happens in WoW and such.

However I can see Blizzard listing special items in the AH for money only that outshine everything else like many free to play games do.

pvp. Some people find the gear climb fun others find it tedious. Others use it as a padding to offset skill differences. Others like to see good gear on their character.

Not saying I do it personally, but I can see why people would pay cash for a good item so they can pvp. And there are people out there that have the skill but not the time, and this would allow them to enjoy the game more by not losing to gear all the time.

Crikey I'm late on this discussion

I think it's very interesting. Since people are going to buy/sell items anyways might as well do it through the game. So many problems can arise from selling virtual items for real cash...but I like that Blizzard is being ballsy and implementing it into the game. With as many hours as I'll probably put it, I bet I'm going to be selling a lot more than buying.

I remember like 10 years ago when someone bought a Windforce for Diablo 2 on ebay for $4500 or some amount....I hope it wasn't real :p

Been looking forward to this game for so long, I've made extremely unrealistically high expectations for it. Almost no way it could live up to the hype in my head :x

Diablo PvP is a lame afterthought.

Diablo is all about co-op gear climb.

If D3 pvp is anywhere near as fun as D2 pvp, I can see myself buying items from the auction house sadly.

Whether you thought it was amazing or not, it was still a lame afterthought by admission of the devs.

Unbalanced, unfun, and glitchy as hell describes D2 PvP. Its a game that just isn't meant for PvP.

That's the majorities opinion, and the majority rules :p

To each their own. I don't play with gear collectors and you don't play with me, so where I play we are the majority.

It still comes down to if you don't like the new auction house, don't use it. Others will use it and will pay money for items. I for one am glad we have the option there as opposed to not.

The whole cash auction house seems to be another step towards taking the traditional elements of skill/time invested in a game as determining factors in how the game rewards you to mimicking real life where cash is king. I have always played games as a break from whats going on in RL and rather enjoyed that time/skill were really the determining factors in how well you do in a game so I dont care for this latest and most determined intrusion yet of the cash is king principle into the gaming world.

I think the most interesting thing to see about this whole affair though is who/how the market will be controlled. Will it be the gold farmers who will provide the bulk of the items/gold in the system? And will they force everything to the cash AH by buying out everything worth selling on the in game currency AH or will it easier to avoid blizzards fees by selling all items for in game gold and then selling gold in bulk for cash on the cash AH. How many individuals with large chunks of cash on hand will attempt to manipulate the market now that real money is to be made? Will players in general retain any control over the system or will it end up like D2 where most people trade items to avoid the farmer controlled AH. Or even will the AH just become deserted because the farmers buy everything worth buying off them to resell them on their own websites because blizzards AH fees are to high?
